You'll do fine here as long as you don't fight/name call with the staff and don't mess up tech or for sale threads!

:hi:

Haha, all good

I believe when Brad bought MD, Ken only owned a small part of the company and drew a salary as a manager and a small % of the profits.

I've done much stuff with them over the years until recently. Ken and Brandon were my links to the company as they were both my friends. With both gone and Ken in Fl, I have Brandon doing all my work again now.

I would not have a problem with Ken tuning anything of mine either. He always did a great job on my Mustangs.

Yea when I dropped off my car, I was under the impression Ken was going to do all my work. He took delivery of my car and helped me unload all my parts, talked a little about the car, etc... I had no idea he had plans of leaving. And I don't really care, but I had no idea my car was going to turn out like this.

Bottom line is, Modular Depot needs to fix this fuck up, because everyone agrees I got screwed.

Suhleen,
You need to sign up to the bullet yourself. It needs to come from you.

Beekcake,
I know ken was a good tuner and probably still is.
But I also know modular depot couldn't have built my car if Mike Wilson hadn't been there. It doesn't matter if he owns a small part or not.
He still should step up and help get it fixed.

I'll do that when I have some more free time, about to head out here in a few...

Who is Mike Wilson? Is he still there?

And just to double check, I should tell them to have Adam working on my car and have Dave tune it?

I don't know how much influence Ken has not owning any part and not being paid by them anymore.

I don't think Ken had any intention of leaving, but Diablo worked real hard to recruit him.

I usually try to stay out of these threads and deal directly with the customer but I think I need to add a little perspective.

Phil originally called me because he was not happy with the work being done on the car at a different shop. I gave him a rough estimate on what it should cost to finish his car but told him I would have to see it first to be more precise.

When the car showed up, it looked like it had been stored in a barn for years without being taken care of. In addition to being dirty, it had a broken window, a flat tire and all of the parts were either in random boxes or stuffed in the car. The headers were so rusted that they looked as if they had been sitting in a tub of salt water for a month. The motor was the only thing that looked somewhat complete and properly assembled (except for the silicone sticking out of the edges of the Kenne Bell and the fact that that it was delivered to us with no spark plugs or injectors installed). As a general statement, the majority of the parts we were supplied were incomplete in one way or another - there were countless missing bolts, wires, hoses, etc. None of these pieces would be that big of a deal individually but the sheer number of missing parts made many normally "simple" labor tasks take substantially longer because of the need to stop in the middle and take a trip to the bolt bin, search the parts room, research missing parts or call and order parts.

Some of our pricing has been called into question and I think I can explain most of what I have seen people ask about. Our billing software is somewhat limited. Unfortunately we have VERY limited space to input information on each line of an invoice - we typically combine several labor tasks and simplify explanations in order to fit within space constraints. Much more work was actually performed than can be listed in the description. For example, "GT500 Fuel System Install" on Phils bill covers not only GT500 pumps but also includes braided stainless lines with AN fittings ran from the tank to the engine bay. "Fabbing the intercooler res. bracket" includes making the bracket, mounting the IC res. and also plumbing the IC tank (which was an 03 Cobra unit had the hose barbs pointing in less than ideal directions). Clearly, our invoices fail to convey how much work we performed on their own. Normally, we try and do our best to describe the true extent of work to our customers so that their invoice can serve as "cliff notes" for a later date. Obviously, we didn’t explain well enough this time.

We always strive to do excellent work and to keep our customers happy. We aren’t perfect however and sometimes we make mistakes. When we do, we always stand behind our work and do everything we can to make the customer happy. Usually a phone call from the customer is all it takes to get everything straightened out. Unfortunately, Phil chose to post this thread instead of calling - I wasn't even aware there was an issue until this thread was already several pages long!

Currently, Phil and I are talking and I’m confident that we can get everything straightened out.

First off, I want to say thanks for the support guys haha. Greg and I are currently working on sorting everything out and getting my car cleaned up + done completely right.

Now, I have to reply to the below post.

Phil originally called me because he was not happy with the work being done on the car at a different shop. I gave him a rough estimate on what it should cost to finish his car but told him I would have to see it first to be more precise.

Yes, that is correct. You gave me a rough estimate and said most likely it would be more, which was OK with me because I knew that was the case, but I didn't expect it to be as high as what it ended up being. You guys have somewhat of a shady way of doing business IMO. Even though you guys did not start my car or do anything to the car, you guys INSISTED that I make a payment to "get the ball moving." I found this to be a way to sort of "lock me in" so I had no choice but to let you guys finish the car. Well one after another, I started getting bigger and bigger invoices as you guys got deeper into things. Over email and over the phone when I talked to Greg, he told me about $2600 parts and labor to do what I explained to him over the phone. Once Chris checked in the car and SUPPOSEDLY you guys went through all the parts, I got an estimate of $3883. This was on 4/5/2010. Then, on 5/4/2010, I get a new updated invoice for $4581.86. On 5/10/2010, I get another invoice for the fuel system components, which is the main extra expense on the invoice, this added $2050. Then on 6/7/2010, I get yet ANOTHER invoice for $7642.55, but this included the fuel system. My final invoice came to $8403.63. Between some of these invoices I made payments. I believe I paid $5500ish before the car was picked up, more than half of the final invoice. I felt paying more than half was fair until the car was ready. Obviously I was not happy my estimate went from $2600 to $8500, but I had no choice because I was making payments and work started on the car. If I knew the invoices would exponentially rise, I would have took the car somewhere else.

When the car showed up, it looked like it had been stored in a barn for years without being taken care of. In addition to being dirty, it had a broken window, a flat tire and all of the parts were either in random boxes or stuffed in the car. I think you are exaggerating a bit here. It was a little dusty from trailering it 2.5 hours away on an open trailer. Yes, the window was broke, I don't think that slowed you guys down any? The headers were not that rusted, they just had some surface rust, typical of most headers. And most of the parts were NOT in fact incomplete. Yes I agree some bolts and maybe some tubing was missing, but not a whole bunch. Most of my shit came ready to install. And even though some parts were missing, you guys took 4 1/2 months to do half assed work! I have attached pics of the day the car was dropped off. I mean would you guys rather I had layed the pieces across your shop and we play an easter egg hunt for all my shit? I figured I was doing you a favor by keeping all my parts together.

Don't know what car you are talking about, but I DEFINITELY do not have stainless lines going from the fuel pumps to the engine. But if I paid for it, I'd like that done. The only stainless AN lines are from the nitrous setup. And about the IC and all that jazz. You have one line item for "Install H/E & Fab for pump" for $267. Then you have another line item that says "Install & Fab I/C Pump & Brkt" for $133.50. So based on that, I paid $400.50 to install my I/C and pump, with the shitty ass bracket. That seems like at least $100 too much. And the IC Res was already mounted in the spot where it is now, so you guys did not replumb it. All you guys did was make the bracket and mount it. I'll attach a pic of what it looked like installed previously, which I also sent to you guys to see.

We always strive to do excellent work and to keep our customers happy. We aren’t perfect however and sometimes we make mistakes. When we do, we always stand behind our work and do everything we can to make the customer happy. Usually a phone call from the customer is all it takes to get everything straightened out. I'm a little confused as to why you told me in a previous topic that my car would be cleaned up before it was done? And that the finish work was still to be done? This can be found here. The only difference between the first picture in that topic and what my engine bay looks like now, is the wires by the firewall are wrapped in black wire loom. That's about it. Is that what you call finish work? That post was on 6-22 and you guys still had more than a month before I picked the car up! And, I did talk to Chris after I had picked up the car and expressed my concerns for the tune. He didn't really have a good answer but told me to reload the tune after Dave made some changes and it was emailed to me. After that I kind of gave up.

Currently, Phil and I are talking and I’m confident that we can get everything straightened out.

So yes, there are two sides to every story, but some sides are not always factual. And like Greg said and I said earlier, we are trying to work this out and hopefully it works out both ways.

Look, I'm not trying to deny that there appears to be issues that we need to work out. I have never said that I wouldn't do my best to make you happy with the work that was done to your car. We both obviously have two different points of view on things and that is expected but it doesn't mean that we can't sort this out.

I've been happy since I dropped the car off to you guys haha. Compared to the shop it was it before, you guys know pretty much everything about mustangs, get back to me on time, and are fair with things.

And not to mention, hearing it run when I stopped by last friday for the first time in almost two years kept a smurk on my face all weekend, especially sounding how it did haha

You said this on the 6-23-10 in a different thread and until this thread popped up I wasn't aware that you weren't happy. Now that I know I would like to work things out.

I understand, I just feel I need to defend my point of view on the subject...

That's because at the time I was under the impression everything was going to be sorted out the first time around. I expressed concern about the wiring multiple times online and over the phone/in person with Chris.

I just want my damn car back and running right! lol

Did you get my email about who to get in contact with for the charges?

And about the stainless lines from the fuel system, is that something that should have been done?

I gave Suhleen a lot of crap about his whining because, as I guessed correctly, it was a completely one sided thing, he claimed the tire wans't damaged when he dropped it off somewhere else.. what did suhleen do? buy a bunch of used stuff online and whne one shop said he was missing too much stuff he took it over to these guys who didn't realize what they were getting into? How long did it take them to realize it needed a whole new fuel system, because.. who installs everything without the injectors and sparkplugs and everything in it? yeah.. and then the no trying to work it out with the shop before posting on all sorts of forums... pppfffbbbttt is what I say to these kinds of threads.

The tire never had a bubble in it. The rim may have been giving a small leak to the tire but nothing was wrong with the tire. Plus I told them to save my old tire and I reitterated that to Chris multiple times over the phone maybe on email too ill have to look. I have certs at discount tire for free replacement so I didn't really mind but when I found out they didn't save the tire I was a little mad. I was out about 175 after shipping and everything and if they saved my tire I would've just paid $30 for a new cert.

And since when do you think you know what happened to my car before hand? You speak like you have knowledge on the history of my car but you don't... not all of my parts were used but they sure as hell all worked and all fit like supposed to. They chose to make some things confusing and complicated like the exhaust but in an email I clearly explained what to do. I took it away from the shop before them as soon as they disassembled my car. They charged me way too much for what they did so I took it out of their shop. All the did was install a few pieces to the block. I explained all of this to Greg on the phone and told him everything I had and that I needed installed and that my car was going.to him as a shell pretty much and they just have to put it together. They knew exactly what they were getting into.

And dude, learn how to talk.... I can't even understand half your post. All he meant was the engine arrived to the shop without the fuel injectors or spark plugs installed. Idiot. The engine was never installed in the car without that stuff. And I talked to Greg over pm to work this out but never got a response. Greg said he responded and he may have but my inbox did not show it. The whole time I thought he went without replying to me so I finally got pissed and decided to make it more known. But as said earlier we are working together to get things sorted out.

Now go pick ass somewhere else

Greg came and picked up the car on Friday. Had him sign a sheet with the things that need fixed and that said the car will be done by the end up February. That gives them 5 weeks, I think that is more than reasonable...
