Are they any good? Anyone know what brand bearings they use?

I am going with FRPP 4.10 gears eventually ("A" in the part #). But I can't really find any master rebuild kits besides the Motive one that most places sell (IE: Brenspeed, American Muscle, ect.). I'd assume Brenspeed uses the Motive kit in there own gear installs since it's what they sell. A top notch shop such as brenspeed, which does many gear installs, would want minimal issues... right?

Unless your high mileage you shouldn't need a rebuild kit. If your under 50k and haven't thrashed your rear with tons of burnouts and hard launches you should be ok without it

Well it has had some abuse over the past couple of years. I also have some noise present on the stock components. Sounds like the typical gear whine though. While I'm in there I am just going to replace everything. The master kit from brenspeed is only 60 additional dollars. Cheap assurance as long as the motive bearings aren't shitty. Hence the reason for this thread (to get opinions on motive install kits).

I'm going to rebuild and modify the lsd as well (extra clutch on each side, carbon clutches & better S spring). Starting to get some one wheel peels every now and again. Can't be having that now.

Funny I was thinking the same thing when I bought my 4.10's last week. I ordered through brenspeed and purchased the motive master kit. My car only has 17k miles but I wanted to make sure I have all parts available for my installer. Like was stated above, "its cheap insurance".

I will let you know how the install goes next week.

Wanted to make sure it wasn't a 2010 since I had the lessons learned from my install!

I used the same Motive kit when I did my FRPP 4:10's. Seemed like a pretty complete setup and I've had no issues since install this summer.....

I prob didn't need it as the car only has 27k miles but just in case.....ease of mind......

What were your numbers and what made you choose the C&L over the JLT CAI?

Me? I got my C&L "Racer" over 2 years ago. Nothing really specific as far as choosing it over a JLT. I liked the MAF size, price, appearence and the fact it is was made of plastic. I think it was even on sale at brenspeed with an X cal 2 when I got it. Works great, I love it!

My car put down 338rwhp and 359rwtq SAE corrected with everything in my signature (1 hr cool down, fresh royal purple, cleaned TB and air filter and ect). I got a dyno graph and video footage, but personally those numbers seem a tad high to me. Regardless, dyno numbers don't mean jack. After the dyno tune I played back and forth with it and my brenspeed tune. The dyno tune felt better at wot but the brenspeed tune feels better as far as throttle response and driveability goes. Needless to say, the brenspeed tune is currently in. The base run (brenspeed tune) was 323rwhp and 342rwtq. But timing was to advanced and was actually misfiring at high RPM (my fault). So I backed off some timing and it feels better.

Good to know, thanks!

Anyone know what brand bearings are in the motive kit?

Motive makes Motive brand lol, im pretty sure they make their own bearings and gears had both in my 01 GT with no issues. Also from what i understand motive makes frpp's gears and bearings.

I used a Motive kit for my first gear swap. It had Koyo bearings in it, the same as were stock in the car at the time (carrier and pinion bearings). There are other kits that use Timken bearings, which are supposed to be a little better.

You should be fine with the Motive kit.

Yes, Motive HAS supplied gears for FRPP. They are the ones with the part number ending in "M". FRPP gears ending in an "A" are the good gears produced by Ford. I confirmed with Brenspeed and they sell the good Ford gears.

I prefer timken bearings. But like you all have said I think I will be fine with the Motive kit, which appears to use Koyo bearings. I have used them before and haven't had any issues on other vehicles.

I didn't know Ford used koyo bearings. I thought OEM was timken. Maybe there was a shortage or something and they outsourced. Who knows...lol

Thanks for all the help and info!
