Motor gave out! (moved 2011 )

So my car has been feeling sluggish through the first 4000 or so rpms then just opening up and running great after that for a few weeks now! Then a few days ago I developed a slight knock in the bottom end which got louder and ended up tearing the entire motor up on the way to the dealer . In the weeks prior to the engine failure I only got a check engine light one time that stayed on for a day then disappeared . Long story short the tech hooked it up to the computer and said all four cams had gotten way out of position , valves were torn up , and the bottom end was knocking ! My car is stock except for mufflers so we have no clue what caused this I always run 93 octane etc. it only had 5k on the odometer . Anyway I know it's not exactly tech yet but I wanted to start the thread so I can post the findings once they tear into the motor!

Good news is they are replacing the entire long block with a new one under warranty

Bad news is they said the 5.0 motors are on backorder so I went from over 400 horses to a ford focus lol

That sucks man. When you get tear down pics and a diagnoses of the issues start a new thread in e tech section.

It will be interesting to see what Ford says is the problem. I kinda doubt the dealership is going to give you enough info about it to really make this a tech thread though.

that sucks for sure. i really debating on getting a 11 but all the issues kinda holds me back.

Damn sorry bro, it would be interesting to see what the hell happened though!
The engines being on backorder, that's nuts. that means they are in demand.

Yep, when I ordered mine a couple of months later I asked about the status and they said it was on hold waiting for a 5.0 Engine. (btw, i finally get mine this thursday, can't wait)

Figured it wouldn't go tech but since I got the 5.0 that's the only section I go to on here and figured this only pertained to these cars , my good friend is close friends with the technician working on the car so hopefully I will get allot more info,on top of that I also had the fuel gauge issue so my first new car has left me stranded twice lol

The car in my sig was my old car a saleen supercharged 06 which I can say never gave me any problems at all , but to all those thinking about getting a 2011 I would still say do it , I love this car it has allot of refinements over my 06 ,

I wanted to also put a blower on this car, now I'm not so sure but shit even in stock form it's pretty stout

Hell yeah! With a full exhaust, intake and tune, these 5.0's are ridiculously fast! Which is fine for me until the warranty runs out. If I ever have an engine problem, all I have to do is put the stock intake on and return the tune to stock and I'm good to go.

But if I could afford F/I right now, I'd have it on there!!:lol2:

I've never had a motor give out on me but I relate.. I bought my car with only 4k miles on it, apparently Ford Certified and it went back to the dealer twice within like 2 months.

My 1980 Escort back in Australia never missed a beat but my supposedly certified car had to go back twice, just silly....

Hopefully ya get the new motor soon, must suck not getting to drive it.

It's when the pistons won't touch the valves no matter where they are.

Ouch..I am interested to see what gave out so hopefully the dealer will shed some information on it
