do you think the heavier oil could be causing the gears to break? I will try a 10W30 for my next oil change which is due 2 weeks ago, timing wise not mileage and see if it slows down the blow by.

10w-30 has been good for me and if you have your VCT locked out I think its a good idea.

Damn Ron, I loose track of a little bit of time, and I come back to Ron with another motor failure, and Larry_H is the VSOP of '09?!?

Looks like you've already dodged a few bullets, but I've still got my toes crossed for you! I don't want to turn out like Don's hillbilly buddy with the gang bang finger bang issues.

Maybe you should have just bought a Daewoo!

What do you mean another failure. This is the first motor problem ive had. My stock motor was perfectly fine. Peter bought it.

My bad bro! I don't know why I thought you had a failure before! You must have broke everything else, except for the motor! LOL!

Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread but following this closely as there seem to be a few of Larry (the crook) engines in our cars - can someone explain this quick:

* Does an engine need the flywheel or anything else external to balance it?
* What is "ring Sealing"?

Thx

Looks like typical wear to me. The 2nd bearing looked better. Maybe polish the crank or it fine. I'm very nre to this and have only rebuilt 1 engine and it was a 351W and I did that just to learn..

I think many of us were expecting to hear just that.

So far it appears it could have been much worse...:thumb:

My gut tells me

Ron, it is very sad to see this. I agree you could get the crank polished, but I don't think there are any real shortcuts that are safe IMO. If it were my motor, I would first hunt Larry down and make Saw I,II,III, IV & V look like Disney-fucking-land and then I would ship that longblock to Livernois and have it refreshed. That would be after I won the lottery, of course! No one has to tell you, you know this better than most..Good luck
