im pretty sure it isnt alignment now but i may take you up on that mike

The noise is DEFINITELY external to motor im positive now. Put the stock WP and a new belt on tonight and the noise happens less it seems, but still random and there. I took the car for a bit longer of a drive and got up to 8-10psi of boost. revs free and fine, although she wants to stall sometimes. i need to change the plugs though for that.

That leaves the A/C, power steering, Alternator, tensioner, and idlers.

I jsut honestly cant see it being A/C or PS. Im thinknig alternator, some idler or the tensioner. Anyone got a spare alternator for these cars? I dotn care if it chargeswell or not jsut want to see if the noise goes away

i changed the tensioner and all of the idlers tonight to eliminate those. (did the waterpump backto stock the other night) Just leaves the A/C, P/S Alternator and blower now.

The noise was not there during startup today, nor was it there at any startup i did tonight. I did hear it about 3 times in an hours ride tonight. seemed to happen most often when coming down in speed, ie shifting to neutral and letting the rpms drop. then i would hear the noise for a good 10-15 seconds, then it was gone again.

car performed well for the hour. stalled on me 2x shifting to neutral to stop at a red light but i put in older plugs when i was testing the plug theory so im betting they are fouled. hit boost once or twice, nothing mroe than 8-10psi and only for a split second. seemed pretty ok.

I wish i could find this noise........

Found the noise. It is the belt. It IS the alignment somewhere. I noticed today that i did not hear the nopise once i nthe past 2 drives or so, each an hour or so long. I popped the hood and low and behold im on a 7 rib belt. It hasn't made the noise since the rib was lost as far as i can tell.

Mike I am going to need that laser alignment tool if you don't mind lending it to me.

I got in it a bit today, hit 15psi for a second or two tops, got brave enough to rev it to clsoe to redline as well in neutral in my driveway. ALl seems well. I am seeing 38-40psi of oil pressure at idle a,d 60-70psi cruising around. I see about 90-95psi on a cold start before it warms up

Glad to hear it Ron. I wouldnt do too much without at least checking the Rod bearings. Mine went at the track too, and the Main bearings were good, but the rod bearings were shot. I wouldnt go too crazy without checking them out.

Glad to see you got that problem solved.

We checked when I was down there. Not the nicest I've ever seen but they should last him the season. At least they're standard size.

Yea I dont want to be the one to bring everyone down. But My Mains were good. No problems there, they looked perfect. The Rod bearings looked the same. Check the one furthest from the oil pump. That one should have the most damage to it. I would just hate to see you spin a bearing and have to get the Crank cut and possible mess something else up. Hey Ron, if you have any questions, you can call me anytime.
