Well first I lost 5th gear. It grinds going in at anything above 2000 rpm. Last night I realized 2nd is gone now also. I can't shift it above 4000 rpm from 1st to 2nd. Any ideas what's up with it? Shift fork? Syncros?

If it goes into gear but grinds then syncros, if u it will not go into gear at all, then forks.

I lost 5th gear at the track finally. It was always painfully slow shifting 4-5th at max RPM. It finally gave out.

I just put a tremec magnum XL in.

FOR SALE: MT-82, needs new 5th gear.

I had my MT82 get stuck in fourth, I now have a TR6060 Its got 21k on it and the McLeod twin disk I had installed.

Did you go with the RXT or RST clutch and why? I'm going to do the tranny, clutch and DS in the spring

I believe they charge $1850. It was cheaper for me because I supplied a core transmission and had the bronze shift fork pads made. Trans works amazing now should have been made this way from the start.

Nice info, may have to get some details on their rebuilds for the MT82. Mine has been perfect so far, but would rather correct an issue before it happens

For cost reasons no I didn't. Magnum is way to salty for me.

Did you consider the tremec magnum XL?

In my honest opinion, the Magnum is not suited to the 5.0. The whole reason the MT82 works so well is the tight gear ratios. I would take a stab that a straight swap from the MT82 to the Magnum would result I in a slower 1/4 mile time....by a considerable amount.

I honestly don't know. My MT82 car has 3.73 gears right now, I would 99.9% guarantee it would go slower in the 1/4 by swapping to a Magnum.

Different car but similar situation, my brother had a '95 GT. He swapped the T5 out for a T56 (Viper spec with the double overdrive) and lost over half a second in the 1/4.

run 4.30's with the Magnum XL and it would be very close to the same ratios as a MT82
