Ok Im getting closer and closer to my goal.
Tonight went to PBIR to test the car after getting it back from ATF from installing a shifter and loosening the converter.

1st pass on 14.5 psi street tune I just wanted to make sure everything was working correctly .
I wanted to see how much boost I can build from the time the 1st bulb on the christmas tree goes down to the green light.
Didn't build enough boost and left the line with like 7 psi's .

1.829 60ft
4.769 330
7.232 1/8th
97.07 MPH
9.401 1000 FT
11.24 1/4
121.41 MPH

I noticed that the converter did not lock until almost the end, so my mph seemed low .
I also noticed that the car felt like it wasn't making power , when I checked the data log , it showed that the computer was pulling timing , only 10* from the 1/8 on, inlet temps were 150s.

2nd pass I was lined up next to my buddy Alex'x Saleen , he too was trying a new set up , he has gone 9.20s @ 147 mph. Needless to say I was going to get rapped , but its all good. Hahahha.
I decided might as well turn the boost up , and I lowered the gate pressure on the boost controller so the boost wouldn't blow the tire out off the line.

This time I stayed on the TB a little longer , 12 psi's off the line with the 2 step set at 4100 rpms.

1.431 60ft
4.163 330
6.521 1/8th
102.91 MPH
8.597 1000 FT
10.390 1/4
121.30 MPH

This could have been the 9 sec pass Ive been working for , but I dont know what the hell was going on , the car was still pulling timing , in the back half all I saw was 6 degrees of timing . Im saying to myself , WTF!
Thats only 18.39 MPH in the back half. This car usually picks up 28 MPH on 19 psi's so on 23 psi's it should pick up at least 29 to 30 .
Something I was thinking about also is that I could here the car breaking up due to bad plugs , could that also trigger the knock sensors into thinking the car is detonateing?

Sorry for the long post just trying to figure what happened .

Killer man!!!. not sure if "breaking up" would pull timing, but if not for that you may have very well gotten into the 9's....total freakin bummer

Is the IATs causing it to pull timing?

Don I think so, I know I have asked to pull timing if the temps get to 200 . I only run c16 when going to the track so there's no way it should detonate.
Im wondering if the plugs were fouled and started to miss if it could cause a false knock sensor situation were it pulled timing , put 10* seems a bit much.

Mine was locked at 10 degrees and went 128 mph on Streetblaze 100 fuel. Why isn't the converter locking up? Since you are using C-16 you might want to check not only the plugs but also the oxygen sensors.

The OXYGEN sensors are fine they are new I put them in about 2 or 3 months ago , and the car idles perfect . Ive only been to the track 3 times so there ok. I think I didn't load the tune correctly so it wasn't locking the converter until my last pass which I tried in 3rd gear . That pass it went 127.79, but the 1/8th was still low .

Yeah, you should be at least 130-132mph. If you were running c16 with your plugs gapped at .026, then it shouldn't be pulling timing due to detonation.

Have you datalogged your knock sensor activity? did you see anything above 6K? When I look at my knock sensor activity, its around 2.5K or so. I am not sure, but I think I was told that if the sensors register 7K or so, then it starts pulling timing. Not sure on that though---maybe someone who knows can chime in.

I didn't record knock sensor activity , I wish I did. I think it Inlet temps, coolant temps and Knock sensors are the problem I have to take a look closer at the tune. I need to check it out sometime this week but with Christmas around the corner it might need to wait.

We have seen problems with the two step colder Brisks as well. Go with either one step colder Brisks or the HT0's. These engines just don't seem to need two steps colder. Especially when you gap them down that far.

Thanks will do .

Ive already changed out the plugs back to HTO's .

Pete - turbos don't need timing as much so even at 6º your back end MPH should have been stronger regardless of the timing being pulled back IMO. Curious to see after the plug change, cause your symptoms sure sound a lot more like fouled/burned plug(s) than a timing getting pulled out issue.

Even at 6º - if you are seeing full boost down the back end - then mph would still be there, albeit not as much but certainly a lot better than you are seeing. Are you sure your boost was staying solid the full 1320º?

If you pull 12* of timing out of the motor its going to be pig rich and not make any power .
Besides the converter wasn't locked either .
I think I might have a little problem with a head gasket it might be seapping out some water , I found the coolant tank low and the data log showed engine temps in the 228 which means it was low on water and ran too hot , thats probably why it was pulling timing . Tomorrow going to pressurize the cooling system and see if it holds pressure .
If the gasket is blown then Im going to finish my fox body project , and then change out the gasket and put some ported heads with 1mm oversized valves , and leave the stock cams.

We'll know tomorrow .

Finish the fox body project then do heads on this one. Ok...it's official. Pete has too much money to play with.

Hahahahah, I wish !

My fox body just needs the motor to be put in , and I need to buy the Nitrous Kit from NX . Its a plate kit goes in between the upper and lower Victor Jr intake , with a Progressive Nitrous Controller. The car is complete so it wont take much to put it together , just time to work on it.
The reason I want to finish it is, so at least I can go to the track with that car while the Turbo Car is down .

If I had money like ChevyKiller I would have two 8 sec street cars.
