Here is picture of a Zephyr that runs around the street & track here. Runs in the 8.5 range in the 1/4! Talk about a sleeper.

That's pretty damn sweet.....that would be my daily driver...lol....I will one day build something like this to be a daily driver and then mess around with people all the time if I drove it everyday.....people in their camaros and shit would be lookin like what?? you wanna try me in a grocery getter.....and then watch them in the rear view mirror at their face as they are shocked as hell that they got beat by a granny car....

It was my daily until 2 years ago. It started acting up even with my setup in it. so i bought my mustang and finally this year ive been able to slowly work on him.

Still no guesses as to whats under the hood though

i worked with a guy for year who had a green 79 fairmont 4 door which had a 351 cleveland. he hand built the headers before they even had swaps for those things. car was a monster and had all the SVO running gear under it. was mint(LOL) green.

they still are the sleeper of the century.

im gonna guess a 351?

I love Fairmont Futuras. I want to build one. They just didn't survive in NY, so if I ever get one I gotta go South and/or West to get one.

True fact for NY... these cars had aluminum bumper held on by steel bolts. This, along with a little road salt, basically created a battery and drove corrosion around the bolts until the bumber litterally fell off the cars. This was happening on 6 year old cars. It was very common to see a Fairmont with wooden planks added for bumpers.

A V8 Fairmont in 1980 weighted ~2800 lbs. A real factory lightweight.

Sounds like a healthy, high compression small block to me. Stroked Windsor? I'm gonna go with 392 CID.
