I thought I would share a few updated pics of my "Stray Bullitt".

On Father's Day of this year, my wife and oldest son were in the wrong place at the wrong time and were T-boned by a lady who chose to ignore her STOP sign. Luckily, they were not seriously injured and came out of it with some bumps, cuts and whiplash. Considering it took place in a 55 MPH zone on a state highway, it could have been much, much worse. The Bullitt too, could have been a lot worse.

I took the car to a highly recommended body shop and couldn't be happier with the results. They had it until Labor Day Weekend, but it was worth the wait. While they were at it, I had them paint the center of the hood, the same color that is on the original Bullitt wheels.

Beautiful car, sir! Glad it's back home with you guys! Also, glad your family is ok. I was sad to see my '08 go from being t-boned, as well. Got hit by an Expedition going 50 mph and I was sitting still. It's incredible how well these cars take a hit.

Thanks all, for the kind words.

I was afraid that it might be totaled. If it had been totaled, I wouldn't have been able to buy it back. Per the Illinois' "chop-shop" laws, if the car is less than 10 years old, it can only be purchased by someone with a rebuilders-license and cannot be parted out.

Being a low mileage, special edition Mustang, the insurance company valued the car at around $22K (I was surprised but didn't argue). That didn't include the $$$ that I've added to it, which I'm told counts toward the total value of the car. Repair costs are allowed to go up to 75% of the value, before being considered "totaled". The offender (Chevy Impala) was accelerating and hit the car high and the floor-pan/unibody of the Mustang was straight and undamaged. Repairs were estimated at a little over $10K and ended up around $13K.

Looking on the bright side:
It was only an Impala. I missed a couple months of summer driving and car shows but got half of the car repainted. My wife, thankfully, had her driver's side window down and escaped any head trauma. And, my 16 year old son (passenger) got a first-hand, eye-opening driving lesson that will hopefully keep him more aware of what other drivers are doing around him. I am thankful!

Well thankfully they didn't total it and no one got hurt and now that you got her back I think a celebratory burnout video is in order just saying
