I was planning on getting some L&M intake cams for a small power bump while having OPGs installed, and then down the road supercharging. I have come across a set of comp stage 2 n/a for about the same price as the L&M cams, and now I'm curious how n/a cams would respond to a supercharger? Anyone ever screwed around like this before lol:whistle1:?

Not personally but there is a guy in FL running a Vmp tvs with a stage 3 NA cams and running 9.20's - It can be done running them but YOUR tuner has to be willing and able to work with them to get the most out of them. no cookie cutter tunes.

I have Comp stage 2 NSR cams in my car with a Whipple. Though not ideal it works fine. It would be better if I had a little more exhaust duration but the LSA on these aren't like those sound cams so they don't don't bleed as much power in the low RPM's. I made 500 hp at one time before we tuned it down a little, so you can reach the limit of the bottom end with these cams. Don't need much more performance out of it is what I'm saying.

Blower cams usually have more exhaust duration than intake because the charge coming into the cylinder is compressed it doesn't need as much intake duration as an NA cam would but needs more exhaust duration to get the compressed charge evacuated. Main thing is more exhaust duration with a blower cam but most entry level aftermarket cams will yield gains over factory cams.

I have N/A cams in mine and it runs great. Tuners can tune for just about anything if you tell them what you have up front. Some things are easy to tune for and some are more difficult. Some tuners are easy to work with and some are not. Picking a good tuner is more or at least as important that picking good parts.

Thanks for the input guys, sounds like it could work fine. I will likely use Lund, canned tune when N/A, and then datalog when blown.

Just to add some useful info to this thread in case someone finds it in a future search

XFI NSR Cam Specs:
Naturally Aspirated Cams

  • PN 191060 – Stage I – 220 intake, 223 exhaust .492 intake and .453 exhaust lift and 126 degree lobe separation
  • PN 191100 – Stage II – 228 intake, 231 exhaust .492 intake and .453 exhaust lift and 126 degree lobe separation
  • PN 191160 – Stage III – 236 intake, 239 exhaust .492 intake and .453 exhaust lift and 126 degree lobe separation
Blower Cams

  • PN 191260 – Stage I – 220 intake, 227 exhaust .492 intake and .453 exhaust lift and 128 degree lobe separation
  • PN 191360 – Stage II – 228 intake, 235 exhaust .492 intake and .453 exhaust lift and 128 degree lobe separation
  • PN 191460 – Stage III – 236 intake, 243 exhaust .492 intake and .453 exhaust lift and 128 degree lobe separation

To my untrained eye the differences seem pretty minor between N/A and blower cams, but I could be underestimating the significance of those minor differences.

I've been communicating with Lund (John Nardi) about my build plans and tuning, and asking about cams. Just as an FYI Lund wouldnt have an issue with stage 2 or 3 N/A comp cams being used with a blower. He also suggested that I could use the blower cams while N/A if I was for sure going to supercharge down the road, and they would work fine (still pick up power) in that scenario.
