They are building a new World Class Road Course here locally and also have one of the best karting tracks being built in the country. I have only been into drag racing but now starting to branch out into some road racing. I know my Mustang will never run on the road course and I am looking to purchase a FR500S or road racing. Well while I wait I went ahead and purchased a go kart to race.

It is based on the F200 Series kart. This is some pics of what it will look like as I am waiting for it to get delivered.

I got that 76mm that will look nice on it. I'm thinking maybe a Sneaky Pete on it to be sure I can beat Paul's when his comes in.

That specific kart is setup for circle track so i wouldnt attempt it on a road course. Also, that looks like the yamaha motor, be careful with the rpms on those things. My dad and sister raced them and they loved to eat up rockers. At about 10,000 rpm theyll shatter a rod that looks like it belongs in a top fuel motor lol, Seen it first hand. All in all though karting is a blast and the best way to hone your driving skills by far.

They look almost identical, but there appears to be a blue yamaha sticker on the motor.

Good to know about it but I am still REALLY new to this. I will be going off what Wes tells me it needs. If we have to redesign it to make it a road course car than that is what we will do. Wes, myself, and a good friend all will be purchasing and racing agains each other with them. It is the Yamaha YF200 motor that is on that kart. I will have to see about the rpm stuff as I do not know about it or how much it turns. I will be getting the dash pak to be able to monitor it.

Wes is the guy that is in charge of getting the new track ready to go and I am going by what he says to start this until I know enough to go out on my own.

The picture you have is a circle kart chassis - you've got a road course chassis coming but the motor is the same - a Burris racing modified F200.

The YF200 motor has a rev limiter in it to keep it from spinning to 10,000 rpm - that is like taking a stock 3v to 8,000 - I bet it will explode! :)

We've got a lot of fun in store - the Senior 4 cycle class is going to be a blast!

I take it you're running them stock then for senior 4 cycle? That is a very fun class, that's what I raced primarily in. My family was part of a new class they were developing here in Utah with that motor but they were built to the nuts! I'm sure stock they will be just like the 6.5 HP Honda, bulletproof!

Mind me asking what chassis you're gonna be running?

Karting is a blast mate, you'll love it! I run in the national Rotax 125cc championship here and have learnt a lot that I've been able to transfer to the (big) track! My kart...

Did you race at Miller by chance?

Emmick chassis, ~18hp YF200 motor.

I did but not much in last couple years, just dabbled in it when I could, too busy with work to go full time. Too bad too cause its one hell of a nice track. I ran both the senior 4 cycle and 125 spec class before having to sell the 125.

Ok so you are running the hopped up yamaha, they can be a blast but be careful with the rpms. There's a fine line with those motors between running like a raped ape and puking there guts out lol. I think some of our troubles were attributed to the track director here that was building the motors.

BTW, nice choice on the chassis!

I know first hand that the motors were breaking at Miller because of high RPMs on the long front and back straight - 75% of the time was over 7,000 rpm. All the rods broke in the same spot. Burris is working on an upgraded rod but for the track we are racing at (http://www.nolamotor.com), this problem is not an issue.

Looking forward to getting on the track - this area is brand new to karting!

We only experienced one rod shatter and it was due to the valve cover coming off, loosing all the oil, and still won the race before giving out on the cool down lap. I would say 90% of the problems my dad and sister experienced was from the valve train. Even on the short tracks they would experience valve train issues.
