Damn man, awesome times, are those M&H's full slicks or radials? Tire pressure? Looking at later on maybe switching to these. I cant hook for shit on these Mickey's. Oh and size, thanks Kipp

Thanks man. Tires are m/h drag radials 275/50/17 with tire pressure at 16.5.
I keep telling everyone these tires hook better than mt's. Like I said in the other thread if you want a good deal I can give you the contact number via pm for john at m/h here in town.
I thought that street bike was going to walk all over me haha I was surprised!

As soon as im outta this rut im in, im going to be going with the 15's with M&H tires on them, probably a 275-50-15, with 4.10's out back would that be a good size? I have mickey thompson 275-40-17s right now with the 4.10's but just cant get them to hook very well.

If you can't hook with Mickey's, something is wrong...
In general I would agree. I had good luck with M/T 275/40-17 DRs way back when, and I've been very happy with 28x10.5-15 and 28x11.50-15 M/T slicks.

But I absolutely hated the set of 275/60-15 M/T DRs I had. They never would hook consistently for me. I tried everything I could think of regarding air pressure and suspension settings, but those tires just never worked. I wore them out first. Switched to slicks after that, and I won't go back.

Slicks work so much better, plus they are lighter, and they work out to about 1/3 the cost of drag radials... its a no brainer for me.

Im sure im doing alot of things wrong, whether it be the tire size and the gearing or what not but, I just havent had that much luck with the radials. But there are other factors which may have caused me not to hook on several runs, including track being to cold, and the track having an oil down and the clean up crew not doing a good job of cleaning it up. But on the streets the tires seem to hook fine but just at the track they just dont hold up well. Im sure switching to a full slick would be better. I dont have a great drag setup, but im working on getting this car to run what it is capable of doing.

Here's what we have been finding on the S197 cars. The supercharged guys (KB, Whipple, TVS, etc) need the right suspension setup for hooking on drag radials because of the instant torque hit these superchargers deliver. These are heavy cars and they must have weight transfer, correct pinion angle, and spring rate in order to hook and stay hooked on d/r's. The turbo guys are not quite so hard on suspension setups due to the spool rate of the turbo and the linear power curve of a turbo setup. N/A guys need the car to immediately pitch rotate so their setups are damn near as critical as the supercharger guys.

In summation.........sometimes it just ain't the tires fault.

I agree 100%, its not the tires causing it not to hook. its just the way the car is setup. For it to really hook, it needs to have the entire suspension redone and everything from the pinion angle to the weight transfer needs to be checked over again. I hope soon to be able to take the car and start over on the suspension parts. The power does come on very strong and with 4.10's out back, the pull on this car is just crazy.
