I installed jdm's 302E in am car one month ago. I just swapped everything over. I got my 1000 miles and had the car dyno tuned. I even took it to the track once. Yhe car ran just fine no problems. Then I desided to drop a pulley size on the saleen and add 60# injectors. Went to the place I that tuned the car when it had a stock motor. They dyno tuned it and when I took it out for a test drive I got about 1/2 throttle and it started to ping so I got off it and it was blowing white (not blue) smoke out of the pipes. I turned around and went back to the shop> it didnt get any hotter and my oil pressure was good. They pulled one of the back plugs and it had oil on it. The injectors should be ok they were new and it should have showed up on the dyno if something was wrong with one of them. I would have to guess that something had to be wrong with the tune? I had 1/2 a tank of 93 gas and the car ran fine on the way to there shop.
Give me some ideas on the problem.
1. head gasket?
2. piston ring?
3. something in the valve train?
4.

please help

Sounds like you either have ring damage or piston damage (ring land). How does it run currently? Does it still smoke, does it stumble or miss? Honestly you've probably damaged a piston, as your 302E uses stainless rings which are pretty damn strong, so it's more likely you broke a ring land, or worse.

Here is what I did to my stroker piston last weekend at the track (this was entirely my own fault):

Good luck with it, I hope you didn't do the damage I did.

Detonation is hard to hear in these cars. I felt it before I heard it, and by then it was too late.

Damnit I just ordered a 302E!!!
There's nothing wrong with the 302E. It's when it detonates from running lean, or too much timing that causes this. And detonation can cause this to any piston/motor.

the blower wasnt touched .
the car doesnt stumble or shake at all.

Smoke? Do a compression test to see of that cylinder is down on compresison. I'll bet it is, and I'll bet you have a broken ring land.

When you drive it, does it smoke after idling for a minute or more? And have someone follow you to see if it smokes on decel, and throttle tip in.

they said timing was set at 19.5. the car is 4.5 hours away now. they will do comp. test and scope it hopefully monday.
i just cant believe i drove 4.5 hours to get there and ran the car hard. It was on the dyno a couple of hours and went for a test drive and at 1/2 throttle is pinged? and smoked. It had to be in the tune i just cant believe it went without being hard on it.

it was all 93 octane. When I went there the tune I had on it had the timing set at 20. so with the new tune it was down alittle.

At the timing(20*) i would have been running some kind of higher octane above 93, preferably c12-c16, or even torco race additive just to protect the motor against detonation. Thats what kills these motors..

mine runs at 19 on pump gas that is were almost all tuners run pump gas tunes from my research.

you guys will be surpised who the tuners are. They each said they were fine with the numbers they used ( 19.5 and 20). And i didnt get deep in the boostso when the motor went I was only at 5# boost so the timing at that time was no where need the 19.5 at wot.

19-20 is where you wanna start running something higher than 93, reaon being is because of detonation. Higher octane usually prevents/protects against detonation from occurring. Some run race gas, some run Torco, some even run a 50/50 blend of 93/112-116.. IMO, its a must when you start getting up there in the HP/TQ and running a built motor.. Take it for whats its worth, this is what my tuner said.

I have talked to 3 tuners (all known on the forums) One said he didnt want to go past 19.5 on timing and the other 2 said dont go past 20. Also i wasnt making crasy power the last pull was 459hp and 480tq. before i installed the motor i had 454hp and 435tq. I think 93 should be able to handle the power level i was at
