This was the first modular build for the shop. Theyll figure it out hopefully in the next day or two.

I am glad things are looking up for you. If the cam issue is your only issue then that shop needs a solid thumbs up! A good builder should have access to all the information they need to properly tool, machine, and assemble a motor regardless if it is one of their normal builds. The shop I chose to do the machine work on my block, rotating assembly, and heads and then assemble the short block counted my short block as #3 or 4 on their mod build list. 9k miles later and I never had an issue, they even printed a list of the clearances. How many of us hobbiest built their first mod motor with no experience in their garage and had it run like a top, and there are stories of big name shops f'ing up a motor worse than the op's......

Shipping costs will clearly outweigh your down time! Next time use someone that has built one more than once!

So we are back up and running now...sort of.
It is popping and bucking under acceleration. Also it stumbles if you just rev the motor. Did throw a p191 code.
I did notice a broken electrical wire under the intake tube. I think it is some kind of radio interference thing. They are going to fix that tomorrow.
So I have been thinking and doing a lot of research with this whole timing thing...is it possible that if the cam gear are set up on the wrong side, right bank on left bank and vise versa, the car will still run just not good? The mechanic is sure they are on the right side.

Just doing some quick research the p0191 has something to do with fuel pressure or possibly a vacuum leak? We looked over and double checked all the connections...nothing obvious...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Holy hell, don't let those guys pop your new motor.

A quick search for Phoenix pulled these guys up.

Maybe someone in AZ can pipe up how good these guys are.

OR Roadtrip!

Brenspeed in Cedar Hill, TX

Arrive at S Houghton Rd. The trip takes 934.2 mi/1503.4 km and 12:53 h.

P0191 is a Fuel Pressure Rails Sensor Performance code. This can/will cause popping under acceleration.

Well I guess I should have done some more research. Too late now....

Replaced fuel pressure sensor today...little change if any.
Could it be bad fuel for sitting for 2 months?
Is it possible to have the cam gears on the wrong side and the car still run?
I am running out of ideas here guys. I could really use some help.
Going to redata log in the morning and send off to Brenspeed to take a look.

Help!

I'm not being a dick, but if it's in a professional shop, why do you need help from the forum? I would hurry to get it to a new performance shop before it costs you your motor.

I cant afford to send it to a new shop. These guys are trying hard to figure it out but dont have experience with the modular 3v motors. I was hoping someone else has the same issues that could provide some insight.

Look guys i understand i made a wrong decision on choices of shops, i got it. Im just trying to get my car back on the road.

The number of shops in the U.S. that know more than some of the members on this forum is probably less than 10.

I think you are on the right track. To ballpark the timing pull the valve covers and verify that the passenger side R is around 11 o'clock when the driver side L is around 12-1. If you can see the balancer keyway it should be at 10. This isn't exact but it will point out if there is a major mechanical timing problem. You could also datalog cam positions and see if they are close to each other. They will bounce around a little but should track close to each other.

The stalling is probably the tune. Cams can be a little tricky to tune correctly. Your stage 2 cams are a little aggressive and it will take a few tune revisions to get them close to where they should be. A little patience is going to be needed.

Here's an idea of what you should see when datalogging the cams. There are a lot of cam related pids to choose from. As you can see here I had to select all of them until I started to see results. These were commanded at 5 degrees.

Here's an idea of what you should see on the phasers. Don't be concerned with the chain mark right now, just see if the R and L are close to what you see here. Others have had one side off by 180 degrees and the motor still ran.

Datalog first.

I hope it works out for you. These motors go together pretty easily. As long as the assembly manual is followed and proper torques are used it's pretty hard to not do it correctly.
