Cool man, Yeah I just cut the crossover pipe off at the downpipe side and had them weld it shut lol. So you blocked off the tube going to the downpipe right? Dumping to atmosphere is more efficient, because the wastegate doesnt have to fight back pressue in the downpipe, it makes more power dumping to atmosphere too.

yea there was a 2 bolt wastegate flange on the up and dp. I blocked off the dp flange. I heard it made more power that way but I have also talked to Justin at JPC and he said that it didn't?!?! Oh well.....

I actually had to go up a step from the unpainted spring that came with my tial bov. I believe I went with the pink one(the strongest). Mine pulls a really hard vacuum. I need to go back to Mike's and get my delete plates on.

I think what he is trying to say is that the 1.5 inch hole in the downpipe has nothing to do with your lack of torque.
not true.

Thats all i get, lol, care to elaborate. I have ruled out everything else i thought it was, will know for a fact here shortly, gonna see how much boost I can build in 1st gear now.

A hole that small after the turbo is not going to have a significant effect on your torque output, if anything the less backpressure the more power you can produce with your turbo

Yes on the big end it helps make more power, but it definetly hurt me down low. It was a combination of things though, large ar housing, shorty headers and lack of back pressure caused slower spool and less torque downlow but flows better and made more power up top.

I know it effects torque because playing with the wastgate with the ebc gate pressure setting (keeping it shut longer) increases torque output from the increased back pressure. Its all a balance of things, you need back pressure and the right size ar to help torque production and spool time downlow, but also you want less backpressure up top so you can make good hp. This is where bigger up/down pipes and larger exhuast, free flowing mufflers come into play.

Just found this video... that thing spools on nothing lol

this is the one with the ball bearings though, I still can't understand why they want $540 for a bearing cartridge that's nuts.

Haha nice, yeah this things sits and spins at idle! At cruising speeds, its just constantly making that pre-boost spooling howl its awesome!

New bov spring came today, just need to put it in and test it out as soon as i get a chance, then its time for tuning, one step closer!

I have had the tial 50mm bov, but it had an 11psi spring in it, which is for 22 in/hg of vacuum at idle. My car only sees 17-18 in/hg at idle so the spring was too stiff and kept the bov from opening, so i bought a tial 9psi bov spring which is for 18in/hg vacuum at idle. Should allow the bov to finally work right so i can let her rip and up the boost :)

Damn it, I'm getting excited for you. I want to see this thing in person though. What are you all doing the weekend of Halloween?

Are you going to get some new track times with this new setup, I don't recall what you were running before.

I only been to the 1/8 mile once with the turbo setup so far, PT67 turbo. Stock maf, stock intake manifold,no bap, @ 12psi (made 540rwhp).

I got two clean runs, an 8.1 @96mph with a 2.1 sec 60ft and an 8.2 @ 98mph with a 2.2 60ft.
http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37745&highlight=1%2F8

Mods since then are the frpp intake manifold, ba5000 maf, cj springs, billet 6765 turbo, bap.

Looking to make it back out to the track here shortly after the retune.

J you would probably run a low 11 w/o much practice! Got to get that traction locked down!

Thats my goal, i would be perfectly satisfied with a mid to low 11. I got plenty of traction i just need to leave at a higher rpm as i was hooking then bogging down instantly until i got into boost.

Alrighty! New Bov spring is in and it works like a champ! With the bov working, got to take it out and get on it today. Just wow! It spools ridiculousy fast now and even spools down low in 1st gear. I couldnt build boost till 4500+rpms in first and i only hit 6-7lbs max before,. Now i am seeing 9-10 psi in 1st and it starts building boost at 2500 rpms. In 2nd/3rd/4th gears the boost is there instantly, it starts spooling at 2000 rpms and Im seeing full spool my 3000-3200rpms. Second gear roll at about 25mph results in instant tire peeling and full spool almost immediately. With no boost controller changes i am now seeing 14 lbs of boost at the same settings, i was only seeing a max of 12.5 lbs with the old turbo on this settting. Not only does she start building boost off idle/cruise and spool alot faster, but its defenitley more efficient, yielding higher boost at the same wastgate duty cycle.
I had to back down my boost controller settings to drop the boost back downtill i can get the tune verified and tweaked in.

Im going to get a 550rwhp tune dialed in for the street and go for 650-700rwhp on the track tune and call it a day.

Its a new car now, this thing is just wicked! A downshift to third at highway speeds is absolutely nuts!

Some vids and dyno #'s to come, then its back to the track! :)
