News copy on the 2010 GT 500 says the whipple intake tube has some kind of resonator that reduces supercharger whine.

Might there be a new "whine reducer" whipple intake on the way for the rest of us? Or should I say...for me. I'm one of the few who prefers a quiet supercharger.

I could be wrong, but I believe the whine comes from the gears internal to the SC. No real way to get rid of that with an intake change.

The only thing you could reduce with an intake design change would be the induction noise of the inlet "sucking" air. SC whine drowns that out anyway.

Are you talking about the aftermarket Whipple 3.4?

No aftermarket whipple. Ford's website says the intake on the 2010 GT 500 has a redesigned intake to reduce whine.

I would also have assumed whine comes from the supercharger gears. However, I'm told the Saleen has the same core twin screw that the whipple does. And the Saleen is certainly a lot quieter. Perhaps because the way the air gets in is done a lot differently?

And a Kenne Bell is the quietest twin screw out there - and its intake winds all the way down to inside the front bumper. Hmmm... They've certainly done nothing to the main unit to make the gears run quiet.

I think all three get there rotors from the same place. KB seems to consistantly be the quietest but I've heard all three be loud or quiet. Whipples always seem to give off at least a lil sound though.

More than half the fun...especially when you rev it and people look at you like what was that, then you get to pop the hood and everyone comes over to stare at your S/C

The S197 is a little different than the New Edges.

I put cut-outs on mine. The whine is completely gone now.

However, when the cut-outs are closed, I run through stock mufflers and do not hear blower whine until I get above 5 lbs of boost. 1 to 5 lbs there is a slight whistle. Below that (which is 90% of the time), you can't hear it.
