Whats up guys. My name is John, Im from southwest Missouri. I have been a fan of Mustangs for a very long time. I have owned several Fox body cars. I think there has been 8 or 9 of those ranging from a 86 SVO to a turbocharged h/c/i 550 rwhp block splitting 89 coupe. The S197 body style hasn't really grown on me until here in the past couple months. A buddy of mine bought a 07 GT-500. He let me drive it and damn they are a far superior car to a fox body. Im not really talking power wise but ride and comfort wise. Well the GT-500 is almost superior power wise to anything on the road. :leghump: Anyway i am looking at picking up this car. http://dealer1367.adpwebmarketing.com/index.cfm?action=InventorySearch&subaction=SearchDetailUsed&InventoryID=17417615&vehicle=2005_Ford_Mustang%20GT%20Deluxe

Anything I should look for or watch out for on the testdrive and cheack out? Im not digging on the red leather but I will live with it for the price.

If I am able to get it, I know the first thing its getting and thats some freaking wheels and window tint.

Thanks in advance for the help.

welcome

That car looks pretty good with the red seats. It is different and different is usually a good thing in my view.
That's a lot of miles but they are very reliable.
I'd have the clutch and battery checked.
All that comes to mind is the battery, clutch & the early ones had problems filling the gas tank (it would keep shutting off) and the front struts had noisy bushings. See if it has these two things taken care of in the VIN history there at Ford.
That's a great price I hope you get it!

Welcome!!! I was a bit reluctant about the red interior when I got mine but now I think it was the best choice for a black car. That's a lot of mileage for a 2005. Check the service history and like Gig mentioned, the clutch. When you test drive it make sure the tranny shifts smoothly. Even if it slightly grinds in any gear that's an indication of problems with the clutch or tranny. Make sure it goes in and out of gear smoothly at a dead stop. These cars had a problem with water getting in through the seals in the front passenger side. Check the carpet and floor pan for signs of moisture. The easiest way to do it is by removing the access panel in the passenger side kick panel and feel the carpet and floor pan for moisture.

Good luck with your purchase!!!

Well guys i went and test drove the car today. The transmission felt a little strange to me. I had to fight it in to 2nd gear twice while on the test drive. I think im going to walk away from the deal. The sales guy that rode with me said he would try and get it taking care. We will see what happens with that. If they fix it I will pick the car up. I am not buying it with the trans problem though.

It was a very nice and fun car. The seats were not as bad as i had thought. If I end up with the car Willie we can do some talking on trading.
