Um... ok yes the tires wil fit but you will need at least a 17x9 and probably a 17x10 rim to fit those tires on. Good luck.

What rims are on the car now?

the car is a saleen so I have 7 spoke 20s. these are just going to be strictly track tires not street. What 17x10 rim should I run. All the factory rims or only 8in wide right?

Can I run say sn95 or new edge wheels?

Plenty of 17x10's out there for sale that are S197 specific that these tires will fit on and work great.....

American Muscle sells numerous 17x10's that will fit, and are actually lightweight...

Nope, they don't have any s197 specific 17x10 at am.
Looks like you can throw on some 17x10 99-04 and have them stick out the wheel wells alot...

well with the wheel offset sticking the tire out so far a 315 will fit no problem as alot of the tire isnt even in the wheel well lol.
305 tuck in the wheel well flush with a 05+ offset

Height is fine. If 20's fit with rubber a 17 with a 35profile which is pretty low will fit. I used to have 35 height on my 18s and i am lowered and there was too much fender gap.

You should! the mismatch can cause problems. Def going to mess with the ds angle(pa) and jack your effective gearing up higher.
Those 20s with the average tire(35 height) is gonna be over 28 inches tall and those rears will be 25.7 inches tall. you are generaly ok with a taller rear and shorter front (like 1 inch difference). you should so some more research before you try to run those tires that difference it going to hurt you at the track.

Those stuck out past the fenderwell a total of maybe maybe 1/2" including tire bulge with a little better offset 26mm or less they would fit fine

correct I ran those and now run 305/18's now on 05 offset rims

what about the height though? with my car being a saleen it sits lower?

Believe me you will not hit they are wayyyyyyy to short hence the reason I ditched them I didn't want to lower the car and they had about a 4" gap in the fenderwell . I now run 305/45's dropped on 1.5" FRPP springs and never had a problem

I ran wheels like that at the track for over a year ....actually ran the best time ever with the same setup and a 20" 35 series tire is only 27" tall I had those too lol
