I am tired of my excuses about traction. Running 13's on this board is like trying bench press 150lbs at Golds Gym in Venice and asking some huge pro for a spot!!! It aint happening. LOL Time for me to get into the 12's and have a respectful ET for my mods.

I got some MT et steets getting mounted on some stock 17`bullitts. I was told to start the psi 18lbs and work down from there. I have never done a burnout in the waterbox so that might be quite funny in itself.:popcorneat:

Once I (if I) break into the 12's I will get booted out of the street class and have to run the 12.90 bracket. That has a pro tree so that might be weird but I dont care. I am tired of what my car "should" run. Sat night is the night. Hopefully the cel p2196/2198 for signal stuck rich wont pop up again and worry me.

These tires look so freaking wide. 26x11.5x17 Hard to believe that they mount perfectly on stock 17` rims. Its gonna look cool.:thumb:

How long should I do the burnout for? I have never raced on racing tires?

I drive a stick.I always put in second. This allows you to get plenty of tire speed to get them hot and sticky. The tires will let you know how long to burnout. When it feels like it starts to push the car let off the brake and keep on the throttle let off in time to stage the car.

Those tires are only 9.5" wide. The measuring system is different for the DOT bias ply tires for some strange reason (I use them as well).

Don't do the burnout in the waterbox, you'll just throw a bunch of water in your wheel well and drop it down the track (and piss everyone off). Just get your tires wet in the box and pull out and then start your burnout.

i launched best with those tires at around 14.5 psi after a good smokey burnout. launching between 4000 and 4500 rpm has netted consistent 1.68's. next time out i'm turning up the launchmaster to 5k and then holding my breath

This is something everyone should do.

It's kind of funny, people will spend thousands to gain hp, but can't spend $300 on slicks that will gain them more ET than just about any other bolt on/power adder out there.

Very True people keep asking me to go to the track and trying the come on your scared Bullshit but why the hell would you drag race a car with street tires all it is, is wheel spin and disappointment.

Good luck with the new times goal, every second you pass gives you another goal better than the last.

Would you get into the damn 12s already!! lol

When it comes to the waterbox, just watch the track guys as they guide you in. They will direct you forward and stop you once you get out of the waterbox. Once they give you a thumbs up, you are a GO to do your burnout. I am a first gear kind of person when I smoke my tires. And with Mickey Thompsons you need to get them hot and sticky, especially on your first run. I smoke the shit out of my tires. When I think I have smoked them enough, I smoke them some more. When it's hot as shit, I run them at 15psi.

Best advice to give you is to take a tire pressure guage. Once you do your first run, the tires will be hot so the psi wil go up, ususally about 2 psi. Bring them back down. If you are spinning off the line, you usually have too much air in the tires or you didn't do a good enough burnout to get the tires hot. If you are bogging, you need to put some more air in the tires.

Good luck!!

Great advice , I do the same thing. Sounds like you like the burnout just as much as the run.

Get ready to have the shot scared out of you. Radials on the front and bias on the rear makes for an interesting ride. I made one pass in my friends car with those exact same rear wheels and tires (stock Bullitts and Pirellis up front). The car moved around A LOT. I went 12.39@117. His last pass of the night the car moved around so much he had to lift. He sold the tires the next day.

I know lots of people run that rear tire. I just didn't like the feeling. You'll see what I mean tomorrow night. Be sure to post up what you think.

Probably not enough tire pressure, that seems to be the case with swaying. It takes a bit to get the tire pressure dialed in. I run as much air in mine as I can with out spinning, the car is alot more stable that way. I have always ran a radials up front with a bias plys in the rear as well with out any issues. Start at 18 psi and work your way down from there.

True, shit I ran a 13.15 at 103 with only lca's with the stock pirelli's, otherwise the car was stock. I would hope the mods listed above would get him well into the 12's. I would love to throw some stickys on mine, I might have a stock 12 second 3v lol! Takes parctice though, it will take time.

Well, it is scary as shit!!!!! with 14.5 to 15.0 that is were i feel the car hook good but at the end of the run the car wanted to go right and left a lot and braking was hard too.

WHY IS THAT USING BIAS-PLY AND RADIALS ON FRONT MAKE THE CAR DO THAT??????????????????????????
