So this past weekend I got my Comp NSR Stage II cams, FRPP 4.10 and the FRPP carbon T-lok rebuild kit installed. Did the work at home in my garage. Decided if I did it at work I wouldn't be able to drink beer and work at a relaxed pace...lol.
Anyways, the rear end is all in spec and not a hint of noise. Reused the factory pinion shim and the pinion depth was perfect. Pinion bearing preload was set to 22" lbs. Shimmed the diff and got the backlash set to .006" (stock gears where at .017 = ouch, more than likely my gear whine cause). Perfect middle contact patch. Installed the new LPW diff cover and filled with friction modifier and...... royal purple (got it for $14 a qt. and couldn't pass it up). Did about 3 heat cycles for the gears to break in. Took about 3.5 hours on the rear end and about 1.5 hours on the cam install.
Car runs and sounds great. The cams sound better than I expected. Deeper idle and a nice lope as well (longtubes help). Exhaust is overall louder and car pulls great, especially past 4500 RPM. Now to get it on the dyno and check the AFR. Then track times this spring!
I love it!
