unless you plan on building a motor in the near future i wouldnt do too many 5th wot pulls. on a boosted motor, 5th gear has too much load for wot. i have seen too many stock motors blow cuz of this.

high gear engine load is what I think he is saying... so I'd guess same for it too.

Not had this problem with my car but I did have something similar happen with my F150.

I have the dual Flex-a-lite electric fans on my truck and one of the fan blades broke off and caused a serious vibration. I could feel it in the steering wheels the pedals and even the dash in the truck was moving.

I pulled over and thought the balancer (crank pulley), which is something else you may want to check, was coming off. I opened the hood and the rad support was going crazy. I pulled the power to the fan and when it stopped I noticed one of the blades had come clean off.

It sounds like you way overheated your intake/FI system. Most street applications are not designgned for long duration high rev WOT use.

You will prob need a better cooling system for you SC.

I think a TR6060 is in your Future, the stock 5 speeds are rated to 360 Ft Lbs Torque, your killing it, You could have warped the clutch? did you smell any clutch burning? Used to happen to my ranger when playing off road.

BTW, I know someone who has a Very low Milage 6060 in Virginia, and Excessive can put it in for ya!

^^ it's mine now :)

im going to guess you were right, check your steering shaft to header clearance, if its less than 1/4 inch the heat expansion would be my best guess, also check for your engine mount torque, i have had mine loosen up on me after repeated runs at WOT...gotta retorque them once in a while

let me know if you need anything else, oh and next week remember to bring 75-140 and friction modifier, or whatever you wanna stick in the rear, are we ging to install the tru trac?

Just as an FYI... I had major problems with grinding and gear slip with my TruTrac when I had synth and friction mod in it. Based on what Eaton told me, I lost the modifier and switched to Dino oil and all those problems went away.

thanks for letting me know, no more 5th gear pulls for me.

but what about 5th gear on the TR6060?

5th gear is 0.80:1 in the t6060 vs the 0.64:1 in the Tremec 3650. The TR6060 is built for high speed, high performance road race applications. The one that I have was rebuilt by Tremec for a guy to use in a near 700 whp S197. This tans will take whatever you can through at it in 5th or 6th gear.

I'll go there...

Since the symptoms got worse with throttle application, especially after long WOT pulss, why not pull the 'combustion chamber spies', i.e. the spark plugs? This will give you a confidence check if they are all in the same good shape. If you see signs of detonation, then you know your setup isn't quite right yet.

The nagging 'she ain't the same' feeling could be from a melted electrode...which means things got right hot during your extended pulls.

So break out the fender protectors and start twisting a ratchet and let us know what you find...

Well this issue hasnt happened since, but i'm fighting a different vibration problem all together now... After 110 it vibrates like a mofo but only on de-accel, the faster you are when you left off the worse the vibration. At 160 the vibration made my car feel like it was about to fall apart

Mine does the same thing. I have replaced the trans 3 times, rebuilt the rear 3 times (less the axles), replaced all of the rear suspension twice, set the pinion angle in half degree increments from +4 to -4, replaced the DS 3 times, set the wheel track twice with a full 4-wheel alignment, and have had 6 sets of wheels and tires on it. None of those things had any impact at all. If you figure it out... let me know.

Christ are you serious? That's an ass ton of work right there to chase this down. And $$$.

I think I'd be driving something else by now after going through all that.

Normally I would agree, but I am rearly over 100 MPH. It is a PITA at the drag strip, but not much of an issue on the street.

It is a serious problem for the OP since he does road course. I would assume most of his time is spent above 100 MPH while at the track. That would mean his car is doing it damn near all the time. That sucks.

Take his advice
my 89 used to do this, but once i let it cool down it would run like normal again. I've seen too many supercharged cars go boom from heat soak and improper tuning.
