I have an 06 gt with 160k on it. I've always used motorcraft oil and filter. I changed it myself the first two years I owned it at 3000 mile intervals. Here lately I've been taking it to the local ford dealer bc it's only a few dollars more and I don't have to worry bout clean up or laying on ground. They set my intervals to 5000 miles. Between oil changes now it's typically 1 quart low. Is this normal or should I even worry about it? I know it's a worn engine and that I should expect some consumption but should I be alarmed? Checked car and nothing is dripping.

^especially on start up. Have you been checking the level after the service is performed?

I go through more than a quart per change, it's all going into the pcv system. Uses more with the blower I think but I always used around 1 before. Same interval.

1 quart every 5000 miles is fine, perfectly normal. I think Dave misread your question.

And yes, double check your oil level after they change it. Common practice to short every customer a half quart, it adds up to a small fortune at the end of the year.

. I typically check my oil every other week when I fill up. It does smoke a bit on start up when it has set up for a 3 days or more

Could just be valve guides/seals. Typical for higher mileage. I'd just stay on your regimen of checking the level, and pay attention for any performance loss.

This isn't normal on a low mileage engine but on a 160k mile engine, definitely not something to be concerned about.
It does sound like you may have slight wear in the valve stem oil seals but not enough to cause oil smoke during deceleration. Just continue monitoring the oil level and keep an eye out for any external oil leaks.
