Hello All,
I have been having issues with these two code for several years now and am getting pretty frustrated. Every from I've checked says the same thing but I can't seem to figure this one out. I've got a bit of a story with this first, because this code has only just been a major issue.

Got the car back in 2020, and after a while the check engine light came on. Ended up being these two codes, but the car behaved just fine. Drove it for a handful of years (up until 2024) like this, and tried a handful of things such as replacing anything connected to the intake, cleaning MAF sensor, etc. Ended up just thinking it was the MMR 'intake' that came with the car, and believed that it was just letting in too much air or something of the sort. I believed that because this error is effecting both the sensors, it couldn't be them. I continued driving it, added an exhaust, among other things and behaved just fine.

Then I had to replace the engine (thanks Ford, brilliant design), which took many months to achieve, as I am currently in college and had to juggle this project with my classwork. Once I finally got it a new motor, it seemed to run alright, but had a rough idle so I though I could use a tuner to try and fix this issue with that. Long story short, after replacing all the fuel, spark plugs, and buying/using a SCT tuner with a BAMA tune (I am aware they are not amazing, but it was on sale, again college student), the car idles rough, and sometimes pulls timing (I think?) while driving normally. The only codes the car has are these dang P2195 and P2197 codes.

I know that a common remedy to this is to clean/replace the O2 sensors, but why would this effect both of them? Is there something big I'm missing? I feel like I've checked everything else but those sensors. And could a P2195 or P2197 code dramatically effect the timing, enough to bog the car down? Any and I mean any help at this point would be helpful. I'm at my breaking point and feel like I want to just junk the car at this point. Appologies for the somewhat somber tone, but I'm tired of this problem and wish I never had to replace the engine.

Thank you for your time,
Aaron

well i think you might have
an air leak somewhere ,,
or the harness is pinched or burned through causing the problem.,
maybe a bad ground,, .

how old are the o2 sensors? are they name brand sensors or cheap amazon?>

so maybe the intake gaskets are bad? or the intake not torqued down causing a leak?

youre sct has live data,, you can see what the 02 sensors are doing and if they are bad,

so id start by checking the harness to the 02 sensors,, and the live data

then spray carb cleaner around the intake and all to check for a leak.

and check the make of the 02 sensors,, (on my wifes outback the 02 sensors lasted about 500 miles before the cel came back on )

You need to figure out if its a sensor issue or a fueling issue.
I'd venture to guess fueling issue as both sides are throwing codes. And an engine needing replacement also points to an actual lean issue and not a sensor problem.

Ive been chasing those 2 codes since 2020 when I got mines. Changed everything I could find o2 sensors, fuel pump, sending unit, upper intake gaskets, map sensors and erg. Food for thought tho check the harness for sure you might have to remove alot of tape but start there in the back at the top 2 sensors. I had high voltage codes on all 4 sensors turned out wires touched and melted. That harness moves alot and there should be 4 purple wires wrapped up in tape. Those are your o2 sensor wires 4 wire o2 sensors with 2 purple wires from each. They eventually turn into 1 because ford decided to solder them together mid way up the harness right at the back of the engine. Believe me ive been digging and slicing and got 7-8 coded to go away except those. Check your harness!!!

Check the harness that goes to both sensors. Could be pinched from the engine replacement. Also if there are no mods requiring a tune, eliminate the tune and see if that helps. Bama tunes sadly are not worth anything.
