PCM questions

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section but I have a couple of questions about an 05/06 gt manual pcm. I'm currently doing a 4.6l engine swap into my 06 v6. The last remaning part I need is a manual pcm. Some of the parts places I've called have asked for 1 of 2 specific vin numbers. I'm reflashing the pcm with a PATS disabled tune so I didnt really think it mattered????? So will either of them work for my project or does the "vin number" matter?

It's best to get an 05/06 PCM to match your chassis. From what I understand, it has to be manual. I never checked the VIN and was ok. I just asked for an 05-06 manual GT PCM and it worked like a charm (after disabling PATS, of course).

The vin # was just being used for the parts place to try to match what you need to your vehicle, is my guess.
Keep in mind, the vin number IS in the pcm, but here in texas, they dont compare the pcm to the vin on the front window. Still, once you find any 06/05 manual pcm, we're ready to go (with a tune for the PCM of course).

Yes, I remember you now. Sorry, between the V6 mods and 5.4 swap, I get about 100 questions a week. Been meaning to put up some rough "how-to" guides as well as some FAQs at www.legendlime.com, but I haven't had time to build the site yet.

Forgot to mention, get used to puzzled stares and lots of "uh.... what?"s from people when asking for parts. Most of the people who work parts have no idea how to step out of their routine.

For me, I've gotten used to which vehicle is most appropriate for the part I need. Sometimes it's an 2005 V6, sometimes a Mustang GT, a GT500, or an 2008 F150. You'll get used to it, though.
