So I have a 2012 mustang gt with 121,500k miles on it I got it with 113k but around 118k I started hearing a ticking/knocking sound I’ve bounced around reading from cam phasers to piston slap to just the bbq tick but what worries is me is that it come in and out when started on a cold start you can’t hear it but after it gets to operating temps you can slightly hear it after driving it for maybe 5 mins you can hear it every time I take off and as rpms climb I’m lost and the last thing I want is for it to blow up when I just bought it two months ago i think it’s piston slap but I could be completely wrong

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds very much like the situation that I had. I bought my 2011 GT with only 49000 miles. It had no noise on initial start up, but the warmer it got the noisier it got. To make a long story short, it turned out to be two bad rod bearings. I fortunately had a lifetime engine warranty on it. The insurance paid for a new 5.0. I had a few things to pay for but it was nothing compared to me having to pay for the repairs myself. I hope that your situation works out. Good luck!
