let us know how that works for you. you swapping to a push rod motor or something ? Dont really think a 5.4 would be able to spool up twin 88's worth a shit . Best of luck with that one. :thumb:

Actually, I may be going with a big block...not sure yet. ;)

Combination is key. Spool wont be a problem if setup properly.

A powerglide behind the 5.0 for a swap in our pre 2010 cars would be sweet. Wouldn't have to worry about running a stand alone computer for the trans....hmmm. I can't wait to see how this works out for you. I'm a fan of the powerglide in any car no matter what the power if you have an auto. Silky smooth and shifts at about 90 mph when getting into it...haha We had one in our 68 cutlass conv. behind a 350 rocket. I loved that car. Keep us up to date, can't wait to see this build!

You are one of those people....because no where prior to my post did he say that he was building a 1600 HP turbo car. He actually posted that his personal best in the car to date is only a 6.63 1/8 mile, which doesn't come close to justifying a power glide in that car.

I never said that it's not a nice, fast car. It most definitely is. I've made the mistake of putting non-OD transmissions in former manual trans street cars. It just makes them boring.

Sorry for breaking up your thread....I just felt a need to respond to this moron.

If you want a glide, go for it....but if you do not plan on making that 1600 HP anytime soon, I'd go with a transmission that would keep it fun to drive until you do. If you went 6.6's on a 6-speed, I'm making the assumption that you enjoyed driving the shit out of the car. You will no longer be able to do that with this transmission like you are used to.

Thanks,

-Will

Why put a different trannny in your car that will not hold up for your future plans and have to put a different one in later?
Nothing wrong with doing it now when you are pulling it anyway.
He saved money in the long run.
Wise decision in my opinion.

And like he said... it's not a street car.

Glides are awesome in street/strip cars. I used to drive my low 8 sec car on the street all the time. Looks like this will be an awesome car when its done, looking forward to seeing how it runs. Here is my old car when I was playing around on the street.... I was making somewhere in the 1500hp range on 25 lbs of boost only ran 20 at the track, turbo was good for 2100hp.

Update...the tranny is now in and the car is running. Hopefully I will have a chance to get it to the track next week. I can't wait to launch this thing off the trans brake!!!

Did you end up changing the trans case or are you going to wait until later on? Good luck man.

I'm still using the OEM case for now. I may switch to a Dedenbear case later on when the motor gets pulled.

I know plenty of people running the stock cased glides well into the 8's. You should be fine for a while.

Hopefully the rain stays away and hopefully I can get it to the track one night this week to start the dialing in process before Saturday. I'm looking forward to seeing your car make some ass hauling NA passes.
