Just finished warming up the car and adjusting the valves. The valve lash was exactly were I had set it the last time. So, the engine hasn't developed any valve train issues and it's holding up to everything that I have thrown at it. After installing the valve covers, I hooked my vacuum gauge up to the valve cover to make sure I had good seal. The engine crankcase vacuum at idle is 11" just like it's supposed to be. Yes, that's correct, this engine has crankcase vacuum not crankcase pressure.

Apparently, I made the house smell like 114 octane race fuel and Joe Gibbs XP3 racing oil. Based on the look on my wife's face, I'm fairly certain that this did not please her. Lucky for me we don't have an HR department at home. So the complaint is noted only for future reference.

The stand that the rockers bolt to, that is all one piece, correct? You have a vacuum pump on the motor?

That T&D stands are two pieces but they tig weld them together. I don't have a vacuum pump. My 5 stage dry sump pump is very large for the displacement so it creates a lot of vacuum. I check the vacuum regularly to make sure that a gasket doesn't get sucked into the engine. Without crankcase vacuum, the oil won't return back to the tank. Once I convert the car over to a Racepak, I will put a vacuum gauge in the car so I can monitor it during a race.

The car looks and sounds awesome! When/where is the first race of the season?

The first race is in April. I will probably get some practice time in March to get the new chassis and downforce combo sorted out.

Cool. I see that you are in Washington. Do you ever get down south to race, like at Barber Motorsports Park or Road Atlanta for example? I know it's a long way, so I was just curious.

I haven't heard where the NASA championship race will be held this year. So you never know, where I might end up. I try to stay local though.
