Problem with Brenspeed tunes?

So within the last few months my car has been acting up. I got my car tuned by Brenspeed and got their 93 octane tune after I got my off-road x-pipe put on. After I got the tune, the car started acting weird. It was misfiring and sputtering at idle when it was cold. So I changed my spark plugs and it fixed the issue for about a week. Then it started doing it again. I had to change the spark plugs twice in a month because it was fouling them out so fast. I spoke to Brenspeed and they said it was normal for it to do that when it was warming up.......


Now the car is running REALLY rough and is misfiring, sputtering, and running real rich. I lost my license for 4 months, so I haven't driven it at all for a while, just letting it sit and I started it up once every week while I tried to figure out what to do with it. What could they have screwed up that would make the car run so poorly? Has anyone else had issues with Brenspeed tunes? I heard nothing but great reviews about their tunes, and then I got one and it screwed my car. I'm planning on going back to my catted x-pipe and getting another tune from Bama tunes. Any advice?

Brenspeed tunes

Sounds too me like the car is running way too rich and the extra fuel of fouling the plugs because of the carbon build up...

Or another clue may be the oxygen sensors which will also make the car run too rich...

Did you get a e-mail tune??? If so, you need to get the car on a dyno machine to check the fuel levels first and to diagnose the problem...

But if the car WAS running good before you changes the exhaust, check the oxygen sensors and report the information to Brenspeed...

Something needs to change...

There is something wrong with the installation of the exhaust, oxygen sensors or the tune...

Brenspeed has a great reputation for tuning so I'd look at the last piece of equipment you installed first...

Ok I appreciate the advice. The last thing I did before the tune was the exhaust. I had to have it put on at an exhaust shop in town because I did not have access to a lift, and my car was too low to work on from under a jack. They may have messed something up. I am going this weekend to put the old exhaust back on myself, and I'll see if I can find the problem. I have an email in to Brenspeed to see what they can do for me once I change the exhaust. Hopefully I can get this issue resolved. Thanks

Check the CMCV plates make sure they are working.... Also clean the TB and MAF. The TPS could be causing this issues as well.

I have both a new TPS and working CMCV plates sitting here if you need them.

I cleaned the TB and MAF and the car has CMCV delete plates on it. Are they stock CMCV plates you have? The delete plates were on the car when I got it, and I have heard some bad stuff about them and have been considering going back to stock CMCV plates. How much you want for them?

If you have delete plates then your fine... Your next option would be the TPS... I would try to revise the tune first before adding anything

yeah that's going to be the first thing. I tried to load up the old tune with my tuner, but it error'd me out. Not sure why but I am trying to get another one from brenspeed.

yeah it has all of that on there..the only change from the old tune to the new one was the o/r x-pipe..I had a catted x-pipe before

o haha my bad.. now i feel like a retard. no there aren't any. And my friend who works at the dealership brought out his scanning tool and it wasn't throwing any codes that he could see. But it could be throwing a code and the tune just shut it off..so who knows

Not sure.... Could be a fuel problem...those tend not to throw codes at times.... Have you changed your fuel filter recently

no i haven't..i was considering that, but the car only has 35k miles on it..shouldn't need changed yet, but Ill definitely check it out. Couldnt hurt to change it they aren't expensive.

Just a question, but have you tried giving us a call? We can look into your tune and make sure everything is set up correctly. Looking at your mod list the modifications that are on the car arent anything out of the ordinary (other than the motoblue FPR???). Give us a call and we can look into it. 574.594.9559

get rid of that regulator lol. and you might need to change both front o2 sensors now. call brenspeed and have the check the tune. then replace plugs if needed and try again.

also coils are known to act like that sometimes. believe it or not if one coil causes a misfire, the engine reads it as a lean condition and adds fuel, causing that entire bank to run rich. google how to test a coil if ya dont know. i would try that last though.
