I've been wanting to try running my F-1A without the cone filter in place, since the filter gets all messed up from all the suction collapsing it. I'm thinking running filter-less may result in a little more power, maybe. In any case I'm trying to decide if I should just remove the filter from the inlet pipe vs. removing the whole inlet assembly and just let the air come into the SC directly. Since it's a rear facing inlet centri, heat is an issue. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there real data from IAT differences etc.?
Here's a pic, if leaving the tube the concept would be getting cooler air from the cowl hood opening in the back.
