Prothane front control arm bushings install question....

I used a holesaw to remove the inner portion.
Then I used a hacksaw blade to score the outer bushing.
And then a hammer and punch the bushing out.
Clean inner section with a light sanding and viola!
Ready to install the new bushing.

Does anyone have any tips or heads up advice on installing them. I know you have to cut the factory ones out and clean up the inside prior to installing the Prothane's.

I would do both the front and rear bushing on the front control arm. 99% of the movement of the whole front LCA is because of the giant hydrobushing in the rear, not the smaller bushing at the front. Either do both, or do neither, it's easier to do it once and get one alignment then to do it multiple times.

This video does a good job of showing where the movement is. Especially towards the end.

My main reason for replacing the smaller front bushings is to fix a squeak that I believe to be coming from the factory bushings.

Thanks for the info on the rear hydro bushings. I would assume the 2005+ Prothane rear hydro bushings replacements will fit GT500's as well correct?

i did this one mine, an air chisel makes taking out the front metal bushing parts a lot easier. will drive it right out. i woundn't put it in a press as i remember someone on this board bent thier front lca doing that...

the rear one, drill holes in it to relieve the liquid. heat, spin the outer shell off. cut off the rubber parts. then carefully use a grinder to go through the other metal part.

this is the most pain in the ass thing i have done to my car. takes a lot of work, messy.

Don't forget you have the electric power steering and there have been steering problems with stiffer bushings. Do a search on here.

That's what is keeping me from upgrading to poly bushings. I would hate to go through the work of putting them on only to have the steering act up afterwards.

I considered it too but changed my mind. If I was tracking the car all the time then I would go with the Boss steering setup. But I'm not.
