Race fuel Question

Will c-16 or race fuel period make the tops of the cylinders , above the rings , be rusty . Not stained , but rusty and not on all cylinders. Could this be caused by water getting in there . Both side of the motor look the same starting with very little on the forward cyliders and getting worse with each cylinder towards the rear Here is a pick of one of the rear ones . The line lower in the cyliner is wher the piston was when I opened it . Also in the ports of the heads there where white deposits. ( possibly from c-16)

The white deposits in the heads is from the c16....dunno why there is rust in your cylinders unless there was water intrusion....?

I am no engine expert but, I had a 93 gt mustang that I never drove just on the weekends and was always parked durning the winters. Before I sold it this summer it had 67,000 miles on it. Getting to my point, I put a top end kit on it with bigger heads and intake. When I pulled my heads WOW! Rust was at the top of the sleves similar to what yours looks like. SO maybe your car sits alot for very long periods of time. Specially if there is sudden climate changes very hot durning the day and super cold at night then maybe condensation happens. At least that was my big super educated guess.

I just think its odd that both banks are the same and get worse from the front to the rear . I looked again today and its rust not fuel stains. If a small amount of water was passing the gaskets would the car still make nice power ? Reason I ask is that at my last tuning session in Georgia the boost was higher then before for no reason , with the same power . If there was water getting in the cylinders then the rings would most likely seal better and cause more moost , no ? Is this possible ?

the only way I could think that it would help it make more power would be that the intrusion was so minimal that is was creating a cooling affect and actually helping create power. Old WWII fighter planes used water injection for that very purpose....I may be way off base here but who knows

It made the same power but at a higher boost level. ( 4-5 psi more )

oil and proper break in of the rings will make good compression, water intrusion will lose compression, its not water intrusion
im thinking its the iron liners breaking down
old engine blocks do this and most of the time you will find rust deposits in your cooling system...i wouldnt be too worried about it, make sure to clean the tops of the pistons and check to make sure your crosshatch pattern is still somewhat prevalent

So most likely when I parked the car there was a little fuel in the rear cylinders ? Thre was a strong race fuel still present after several weeks .

Probably seeped through the injectors. C16 is oxygenated so it will leech water out of the atmosphere. Especially if the valves are open on that cylinder.

Makes sence . I roll with that . The gaskets looked good and the tq spec was in line so this would explain it better, thanks.
