Hey boys! Has anyone purchased these door panel inserts? I don't feel like re-gluing my vinyl again on my 2005 Vert. I'm thinking this might be the easiest/cost effective alternative.

I've looked at these several times but never bought them. I agree that it is probably the best solution but I haven't done it yet.

That is the better, permanent fix, if done correctly.

I just ordered a set today in slate gray so once I receive and install them I'll take pics and give you my thoughts. I might also do some welting in red to finish the look off.

I re-glued mine, but this heat messed them up again... That is
what causes the problem in the first place...

I re-glued mine and that didn't work so I have staples painted black all around the edges of the mofo. this looks promising though.

Yeah, i removed, cleaned and re-glued. It lasted about 3 years before it started coming loose again. Ended up uaing some piping to hold it in place. Piping works but i may go ahead and order a set to see if that looks and works better.

I used 3M Super 77, and for the most part, that held. The top parts
are falling out, they need gone over... I need to tape off the door
and coat that parameter better. Everything below that held with the
Super 77.

This, without cleaning the old crap off, I doused the whole area, and the material,
then rolled it back on. Could not fully get the parameter where it pushes into the
panel.. Other than that, the bulk of it is still in place. Heat does soften and goo up
the spray, so you need this good stuff to prevent that. The Super 77 is less prone
to sag under heat.

I am going to try GE silicone (AKA RTV) on my '06. I have good luck with it in many places. The side of the shifter also needs it.

RTV is thick and may end up being lumpy. The spray one adhesives lay on thin and even. I would use that.

There was a thread a long time ago that seems to show a correlation between the amount of leather / interior cleaner used and the speed of the lining coming off. The cleaners seem to seep into the material and the glue comes off.

My point is, I don't think its necessarily the adhesives fault, so I personally would not try rtv.

My 07 that I optioned without the iup, came with hard plastic door trim covers from the factory. All I did was add the welt trim. It's a better match for texture looks like than these aftermarket ones. I'm sure you can find them cheap from a yard or part out car.

Hey boys! Finally installed the gray Coverlay inserts and added some red piping. Matches my exterior racing stripes on my black Mustang now. Looks way better than the way it was.

That DOES looks nice...I just re-applied adhesive to my driver side..it came off after 13 yrs...not bad, but annoying.
