I noticed that my rear defrost was not working yesterday. I looked at it when I got home and noticed that the wire that attaches to the actual window just broke off.

None of the wires are pulled off the window and the area where the external wire attaches to the window looks fine as well, I think the lead just popped off. It almost looks like the wire was just soldered onto a pad.

My question is has anyone here ever fixed anything like this before? I figured I would check here before calling the dealership. It looks like I can just solder the lead back on, but I am not 100% sure and dont want to ruin anything.

thanks guys

I would love to do that, but I am sure that would start to suck around Dec here in Detroit... haha

This is another reason why I need to move back to Texas... :thumb2:

No shit... last time I was down to visit family (Corpus Christi area) we were BBQ'in in the back yard on Christmas Eve... then we went golfing! I think I even started sweating at one point.

I called one dealer up here and talked to the parts guy and he sounded part retarded and did not seem to understand what I was trying to explain.

Guess it is time to just pull into a dealer and show them.

Just as ahead up for anyone else with this problem...

The wires that come up from the rear of the car and attach to the window itself (for lack of a better description) actually are just soldered into place. I called a different service dept and they wanted to charge me $95 to fix it.

So it looks like I am just going to solder it back in place and be in business!
