I did a search the other day and got a few companies, but for some reason I can't remember what I typed in.

I have a built 3V stroker, sporting a Mammoth, and all the trimmins, at the end of a quick burnout, my IAT's were at 150*.

I was checking out the Chiseled Performance Tanks with the Rule 2000 Pumps inside.

What setups are you racers partial to, or like, for a trunk mounted IC Tanks. I would like something flush mounted so that I can drop the trunk carpet over it and not see it, but still hold enough water to make a solid run.

James(Dysan) where r u?

Lol
He just had the tank made and it should be delivered any day now. He has some good info on it. We will be running the lines on his car this weekend.
He will be in here shortly and give more info on it.

ROFL.....Yeah, I'm getting a custom spare tire well tank made by Chiseled. The Rule 2000 pump that they list would most likely be too much for an intercooler in a twin screw or tvs blower so that's why I'm getting a Rule 1000 pump installed. It's rated around 17-18 gpm unrestricted which I'm guessing will get me around 10gpm of flow hopefully. Once I get it I'll post up some pics and dimensions so you can see what the finished product looks like.

The nice thing is that they will place the fittings wherever you want and whatever size you want. I'm getting 3/4" fittings installed. One in the rear passenger side for the flow out of the pump, one on the rear driver's side a few inches in for the drain and one on the top rear driver's side for the return line.

It should be able to hold quite a bit of water & ice. Here's the schematic they quickly drew up with dimensions so you can see.

By the way, here's a write-up that PSFRACER did which is what made me decide to do a tank like this. He used the stock bosch pump that alot of kits come with though. I didn't like how low it would most likely sit so that's why I did the in-tank pump. I've seen some posts on other sites from people who did a square or rectangular tank in the spare tire well and mounted the bosch pump off to the right side in the well.

It all depends on how much you want it to hold and how much extra weight you can deal with.

Thanks dyson on the info. I'll give them a call. A buddy of mine is using the Rule 2000 and set that if he had to do it over he would've went to the Rule 3000.

Thanks for the dimensions as well. I didn't see the tank you were having made on their site. How big is it (gallons), and if you don't mind my asking, what did they charge you?

I don't think the rule 2000 or 3000 would fit in the tank I'm having made since it's only 5" tall. The rule 2000 pump itself is 6" tall so you would probably need to have a tank made that's close to 7" tall to use that pump.

I also reached out to Rob Simons from Edelbrock and he told me not to exceed 15gpm of flow rate since he did some testing on the e-force blower and experienced cavitation above 15. If I were you I would reach out to Kenne Bell for flow rate recommendations before you decide on what pump you want to use. You can also get the tank made ready for a bilge pump, try out the pump you already have first and then decide.

I was originally going to do it that way but then decided to just get the in-tank pump for a clean install.

As for the price the tank was is $200 and the Rule 1000 pump is an additional $75.

Capacity wise I don't know. I never bothered to ask and I probably won't fill it all the way since I'm guessing it can hold quite a bit. They haven't even charged me for it yet either. They don't want the money until it's built which is nice. I'm hoping it will be done by the beginning of next week.

The friend that I'm referring to with the tank and the Rule 2000 races with an Edelbrock EForce Blower. He said that he packs it with two bags in the staging lanes, rolls up with the IAT's at 75*, does a burnout, IAT go up to around 120-130* and then he slowly rolls up to the lights to let the water cycle through, by the time he stages in the beams, his IAT's are back down to 70*. The guys at Edelbrock didn't believe him until he sent them hiss datalog.

How long ago did you lace your order with them on the tank?

Thanks again for the useful info!!!!!

I ordered it on 9/28/10. Your friend who has the e-force, what boost is he pushing? Those IAT's seem high for running an ice packed water tank. My IAT's at the start of my burnout on my best run were 100 and at the end of my burnout they were 110. And that is with the stock e-force reservoir with water & water wetter. I'm running the 3" pulley right now pushing around 11.5psi of boost. I'm hoping that my IAT's with the ice will start lower than 70 but I won't know until I install it.

Does he happen to have a few tight 90 degree elbows on his set-up? I've been reading that those will drastically cut down on the flow so I'll be trying to find the more gradual 90's to use for mine.

I don't remember if I agreed to it, but Rob @ Chiseled said he could make the tank with 2 feeds, one for the in-tank pump and an extra if I wanted to try out my bosch pump so it may come that way so I can try both out and see which works best.

I should be getting my trunk tank this coming Tuesday. I've already run all my coolant lines under the car from front to back and temporarily tied them in to the existing system for extra capacity. All I will have to do once I get the tank is run the power wire, cut the holes in the trunk to get the lines in there and change a few connections up front.

I'll post up some pics once I get it.

I spoke with Brian at Chisled a few times last week to get some ideas, sent him the design that you posted, and haven't heard from him since. I also tried for the past three weeks to get a hold of Adam at ST Motorsports, and I can't get a retun call back for him to do it. I spoke with the guys several times over the past few weeks, and I can't them to call me back. I know they're busy, we're all busy, but at least tell me it's not worth your time to do it.

I got a local guy here doing it and should be done this coming Friday. He builds Intakes, Turbo Air to Water Intercoolers, Air to Air IC's, the guy does killer work.

Keep me posted on yours as I will on mine.

Cool. I only spoke with Robert from Chiseled one time on the phone, every other time was via email which I think he prefers.

At this point I don't know if I'll see much improvement now that the air is pretty cool up here in Jersey now. On a side note I got lucky at the track the other night, I thought I heard the car pinging when racing and I was right. After looking at the datalog I saw the knock sensor pulling timing. I must have gotten some bad gas from Exxon, which I normally don't get gas at but was in a bind. I've got to stick to Shell or Sunoco from now on.

When I'm at the track I run race fuel to eliminate any detonation
issues. I don't like running the car hard under boost w/o it.
