I think the hallett crash has everybody scared to death lol. It sent the same fear in me as well. When my car goes all out with a cage it will definitely be welded and bolted to the frame rails. I don't even trust those plates that weld to the floor pan. The floor pan is still your weakest point no matter how strong the brace/mount is. That shit is thin sheet metal!

Very nice work, Philostang! It looks like you did 90 degree bends on some parts? If so, how? Heavy duty brake, or a press? Inquiring weekend fab-warriors want to know. :highfive:

Thanks! We used a medium-duty brake and scribed light lines in them with a cut off wheel to help the fold (then welded the fold area). That wasn't my preferred choice of how to do it, as I would have liked to have a press to do the job. Still want one...

I still prefer the bulkhead mount method, so no strong argument here against Kurgan's mistrust. However, tying the plates into both the bulkhead and rocker really does create a very strong box as a foundation. I think you'd need to pancake the car and have another one land flat on top of you to do make it's way through that box `ala Hallet. (And yet, I'd still feel better with a bulkhead mount.)

Best,

Any pictures of your setup? Thanks

I currently do not, sorry, but I will take some for you. The car is currently in the shop trying to pass inspection. I should be getting it back today...
