Alright so let me start off by saying yes I know I can upgrade to a bigger supercharger and not spend thousands of dollars to squeeze all the power out of my tiny blower...but I love my m90 and I like to experiment. So no haters please.

Anyways current mods are 2.57 pulley 90 mm idler and lt headers o/r x and FRPP cams. I have several other things but this is just what deals wit the s/c

Mods to come
12% OD
Bigger heat exchanger
Upgraded coolant tanks
FRPP throttle body
Etc

Now to the main reason I made this nifty thread, I pulled my supercharger and I plugged the silencer holes, yes I did it.

I will be posting some videos of before and after BUT
For those interested here is what I believe I have gained
Obviously the s/c holds boost pressure much better now. Which in my opinion makes it more efficient, it seems to me that the throttle response / acceleration through the rpm range is much smoother and quicker. IAT's did not change at all. And the sound is to die for. I get whistle from the s/c at idle!!! And at WOT it's a screamer.

Anyways videos to follow, and again no haters please...I'm not looking for enemies here just to show what I've done and maybe pick up more cool ideas!

Cool- this is a pretty popular mod in GM M90 world. It definitely turns up the noise.

There is no side effects by doing this? How many holes, I know of the one at the rear on the passenger side, and what did you use to block them?

Got any pics of these holes? Would be interested to see a before and after dyno.

Silencer holes?

I'm not familiar with these holes.

Pics?

Are they the elongated slots on the underside of the blower next to the rotors (M90 on left, TVS on right)?

You are not messing with your bypass valve, are you?

Let me start by saying dimora nice ride I've seen your posts here and on fnsweet and I respect you and your ride, you sir are a god. Now to your questions.

Yes dimora you'd be correct they are the ports on the side of the outlet, all they do is bleed back pressure to keep Nvh down. I talked to several roush and steig personnel before doing this myself

I have a dyno of before if I can get the car up soon you'll see an after. I wouldn't expect much power gain from it, but it feels smoother

No lol the bypass valve is just safe. I just filled in the silencer ports...I call them silencer ports but I don't know what the name for them really is. Many blowers don't have them like the TVS for example, but after looking and getting verification the m90 does. I quite enjoy this simple mod.

No as of thus far I have 0 negative side effects. Plenty of positive. But before you attempt it I'd let me run it for like a month? Just to keep everyone updated and get a good solid answer. Also I used jb weld to block the ports. I let it cure for 24 hours with a heat lamp prior to even putting it on the car. It's easy to do but it just takes time and prep work to do it right. Or else things could go sour

We used to do this all the time on GM 3800 m90's. I don't remember anyone ever having a problem. Plus worst case scenario if the plug comes loose it would get caught in the inter-cooler and not be able to enter the engine.

Exactly!! It's just a matter of prep work and doing it right....I know guys that have had it done for years

I didn't take too many pics but I'll freeze frame the videos I took so everyone gets an idea. Videos and pics should be up around 5-6 central time.

I'd like to see this as well. Mine is loud enough with a 10% OD and the 2.57 at full throttle...curious to hear it at idle.

Also interested to see if there are any HP or TQ gains by doing this.

I am also extremely curious to see if there is any hp gains but regardless I am very very happy with the sound, and like I said I can feel a difference on the throttle response and much smoother / faster revs
