So I bought a 2011 GT and I haven't even taken delivery yet, and am already thinking about forced induction. :thumb:

I'm still tossing around the idea of using a hair dryer (centri) but mostly I'm attracted to the PD blowers, since this will be a street car only. I like the fact that you have instant boost down low.

The two kits I'm looking at are the FRPP 525 kit, and the Roushcharger kit, which noone seems to have much info on. I like the fact that the 525 kit comes with a tune, and coming out of the carb racing scene, I have no idea what the local tuners here in Minneapolis are like or whether any of them have experience with variable timing cams in the 5.0. It seems like tuning for those cars is a whole different beast.

Anyway, my questions are:

1) If you were to do this, and your car had 3.31 gears in them (couldn't order from the factory anymore when I bought this car) would you swap them to something else?

2) Boost likes flow, what exhaust mods would you make (thinking offroad X and ??? catback exhaust).

3) Who does good tunes in the TC that has experience with the 5.0, or would you do a tune by mail? Any shops in particular that can work with the 5.0?

4) Will the stock rods take 550HP (KIDDING!!!) :popcorneat:

I'll probably drive the car stock for a while (actually it'll sit for a bit since we just got 24" of snow) so I have some time to make a decision, but I'm interested in hearing what those who have been there, done that, think...

If your looking more for that lowend grunt, the ROUSHcharger will be better. If you want more mid-high rpm power, the FRPP would be the better choice.

Once you add boost, I would say stick with the 3.31s. As you will get better highway cruising mileage with those, and if you ever need more acceleration, your only a pulley change away.

My prev ride had a roots blower on it, and the lowend power was so much fun. For a street cruiser I could not have been happier. The 6th gear passing power was amazing (never had to downshift unless i was looking to pass 2-3 cars). And 2nd gear roll-ons would plant your head firmly against the headrest when the tires would hook.

For a low boost application (6-9psi), the stock exhaust should flow plenty. If you plan on upping the boost, then removing the cats, and some high flow mufflers would be ideal.

So far the stock block seems to be taking over 600 to the wheels with no problems on good tunes.

if you are interested in the Roushcharger, you should talk to Justin at VMP. his wifes auto has been 10.40's in the 133mph range i believe with only exhaust the blower 3.55 gears and drag radials. not sure what else i remeber the car went 10'60's on 18'' dr..

Yeah I saw it was VMP that did the tune on the "project car" that Roush has on their website. Anyone have experience with them? Obviously he knows how to tune a drag car, but I'd give up a few horsepower to not have the fuel right on the ragged edge. Plus it seems like the Holiday stations around here that used to have 93 only carry 91 anymore. I'll have to look around to see if I can find any 92 or 93.

Thanks for the thought on the gears. I was thinking the same thing (keeping the 3.31s with boost) but having not played that game before I appreciate the confirmation.

l337pirate: You mention the Roushcharger has more lowend grunt, what makes you say that? The whipple and the Roush look to be about the same. I was leaning Roush anyway because, well, I think the FRPP charger is kinda ugly and that TVS looks pretty sweet with the ribs and the gloss black.
