It will be much cheaper and easier to just buy a 5.0 GT or GT500. If you insist on doing this, find a complete donor 5.0 and move it all over, including the shitty getrag trans.
NOPE. I'm in my swap for $5000.00 plus a few extras I decided to go with shopping for parts. Most was building the motor and ported heads.

Alright so theres been a lot of replies since I last stopped by.

Right now the car is finally being put back on its wheels by tonight. It has a rebuilt 8.8 installed (3.73s all fresh bearings etc, spent long hours sanding and prepping to paint it and it turned out pretty good) and added the ford racing cover. The axle was had for $350, and a one piece aluminum driveshaft (11-14 but mated for 15-17 motor), the exhaust system was had for $675 all together headers/xpipe/overaxles, I did buy a UCA for the rear because it was the only stock suspension I still had in the car and figured it would be a good time to replace it was pretty fucked, went ahead and bought a new radiator and outside of sourcing motor/trans which were very limited the last six months it seems, most everything is complete in terms of prepping the car. Harness is on backorder, and I still have to install fuel system at this point but the project slowed down quite a bit just because I had to catch up on other ordeals.

I also forgot to mention that at this point the plan is to put an 18+ digital gauge cluster since a 15-17 ECU will work with that and obviously unless I pay a professional to convert my cluster to work its not worth messing with the old cluster. Also, I'd like to point out that if you have people to help you, there is really no going wrong with some help. There were some things I spent way to long doing simply because I did not have an extra hand. Save yourself the cuts, bruises, and time and get help taking things out or off. The axle weighed like 300+ and the hood is a nightmare to move for one person.

Unfortunately this is something I've planned for a long time and only started now because my 5r55s blew. It's not about getting into a 5.0, I wouldn't have spent the money on the car in the first place if I had planned to switched cars.

The PBH plugs into the bottom of the ECU and then you connect the CANBUS leads. The only other connections from the harness go to the clutch pedal (very easy), the ignition (you remove 1 wire and insert the PBH wire) and then you run a wire from the PBH harness to the fuel pump.

Once I deciphered PBH minimal instructions I was surprised how easy it was. So all you need for a conversion is:
1. PBH harness
2. ECU and engine harness with the pedal for that year
3. Tranny harness
This will fully function in any 05-09 and run the rear lights, ABS, full CANBUS, Dash and what not. I'm even running the 08 GT500 dash in my GT and it was literally plug and play. (installed before the swap)

JUST HAVE TO SAY THANKS TO JUICE FOR ALL THE HELP !!!
So after a lot more time into the project I agree, the stand alone PBH/Ford Performance system is the way to go, seperates my main engine components from the rest of my electrical components in the car which alleviates any difficulties in wiring them together, as well as it seems for tuners that the stand alone is extremely easy to work with and the better long term solution. I knew that using the stock setup was fine, but its clear that for an 05-09 that unless its a gen 1 coyote its not worth reusing all stock components so I plan to order the Ford harness, they've been on backorder for months and so I have not actually picked one up yet but luckily the project slowed down a lot and otherwise it would have sat in a box.
