SCT Tune Issue

I ran into a dilema today with SCT. I bought an SCT TSX and tried to progarm the car with a 'pre loaded' tune on my 07 GT. The SCT would not recognize my Strategy and therefore could not load the tune.

It turns out my car has a FRPP CAI on it that required the PCM to be sent into Ford to be flashed with a tune. This tune strategy is not supported by SCT. As a result, I cannot flash my car with a pre-loaded tune. I was planning on buying a tune from Brenspeed when my my Comp Cams SPR Stage 2 and other mods go on. However, I want to at least update the current 'bad' FRPP tune and do some minor parameter updates and baseline the car before mods. The car dyno'd at 265hp/285tq...which are stock GT numbers...this mean the FRPP CAI and tune didn't do anything (shitty tune?).

Has anyone had a issue like this with SCT where you cannot program a preloaded tune due to an unsupported strategy?

sounds like you need a dealer to re-flash the PCM to a stock strategy tune - then you can get updated base tunes from SCT/Brenspeed


did SCT confirm they don't support the FRPP tune? or is it just you don't have the proper strat codes?

SCT said that they don't support the Strategy code. The code is FPASSA2.HEX.

Yes, SCT indicated that I could have Ford flash the PCM back to stock and then use the pre-loaded tunes...but it makes no sense to go pay Ford to flash back to stock. I might as well get a base tune from Brenspeed (or other) and get an update when I buy product or pay for an update.

That is correct. I cannot get any tune updates to the car if the FRPP CAI flash stays on. If I have Ford flash the PCM back to stock, then I can use the preloaded tune(s). However, SCT does not have the FRPP CAI as an option in their CAI selection. So SCT indicated the preloaded tunes would do no good.

My other option is to only use custom tunes. Brenspeed indicated that they can support the FRPP CAI. I think it's best to leave the lame tune on, add the cams and other mods and load the Brenspeed custom tune.
