SCT tuner. Help, Im running out of ideas...

I turned my car to the factory tune a month ago because it failed inspection with the custom tune. Then it failed again. I got an OBD scanner, scanned it, rear O2s are turned off. Even with the factory setup.

Today I took it to the dealer hoping that they could fix my rear O2 sensor issue. They run a series of diagnostics and finally told me they need to re-flash the ecu but this could mess up with my tuner and make it worthless! Of course I didn't let them to.

My question is: if I let them to re-flash what happens to my SCT XF3? Could I be able to use it to flash a custom tune later?

Any answer, idea or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Did you get the flash tuner through a shop or direct?

You should be fine. When you return it to stock you are unloading the sct tune and you can use it again. If they re flashed the ecu with the sct loaded you would be sol

I think if the dealer re-flashes the ECU with a set of data not exactly like the one you had in there before the SCT/AM tune, the SCT tune might no longer work. The reasons people customarily return to stock when visiting the dealer vary, but they always should specify the dealer not re-flash the ECU because the dealer's data might be an updated set that does not match the one your tuner tuned to.

In any case, reading the (possibly new) strategy and telling your tuner will allow them to remake the tune so it fits the new data. Pain in the butt, but not fatal.

use the SCT to return the car to stock.. make sure the device info shows that it's stock and unlocked..
then you can have the dealer do whatever they want with your PCM to solve your issue.

eventually once everything is sorted, it maybe worthwhile to update the firmware and tune revision of your xcal before tuning the car again..

Thanks a lot for the replies. I think I'm going to get an inspection friendly tune with the rear o2s ON. I'll share info as I go through. This thing is killing me.
