Currently I have stock shocks and struts, Steeda front/rear sway bars/end links and Steeda sport lowering springs, G-trac brace and an adj. pan hard bar...I run my 15" Race stars on the street and of course the track. My car will see about 5-7 race days per year. I dont really drive it other than Sundays when its nice out or Ill take it to work every once in while. If you where using it like me, what would you upgrade the stock shocks/struts with?
I have about 24,000 miles on my car and its an 07..

Upgrading shocks/struts aren't going to hurt. Replace my stockers with 22000 on the clock and noticed a world of difference. So I would say do it.

I loved my Koni STR.T's when I had them. Definitely an improvement over stock, but they're friendly on one's budget. Are you looking for more comfort or better performance? D-Specs may be an option for you, if you're really looking for some help at the track.

Its on my list for sure, just a question of what I want and why..

I want something that I can adjust for the track when I go, and adjust for the street. I dont take corners fast with the Racestars, lol..But..I will switch back to an 18-20" rim eventually, and I will want the car to handle at that point. So I know Im not looking for a strip only set-up..

The d-specs are adjustable and will allow you to adjust for at the track or on the street.

D-specs are on my wish list. Their rep isnt as good a Koni Yellows, but I they cheaper and actually available at anytime. Koni Yellows you are gonna have to wait or find the right time. I think Sam Strano has some in stock if they all are not spoken for. But the D-Specs are adjustable like the Yellows, and don't have a bad rep.......just not worshipped as high as the Yellows.

I have been eyeing D-specs for over 1 year now. I have always liked the fact you can adj them, and alot of guys like them.

I know coil overs allow you to adj the ride height, but are they as track friendly as dspecs???

Turbopete was pulling low 1.4 60's with d specs along with a few others, I don't think that's too shabby.

Im quite fond of my self adjusting bilstein hd's. Lifetime warranty as well!

  • Firm, yet good ride quality, as is expected of a performance car
  • Bilstein struts and shocks are made with patented mono-tube technology
  • Inverted strut design has very large strut shaft bushings for greater resistance to deflection from cornering loads, and protection of the oil seal
  • High nitrogen gas pressure prevents oil foaming and resultant fading
  • Monotube design has better heat dissipation than twin-tube dampers, keeps the oil cooler, and decreases heat-induced damper fade
  • Velocity-sensitive valving improves ride quality
  • Each Bilstein strut and shock is tested on a shock dyno
  • Bilstein struts and shocks include dustcovers
Tech
Heavy Duty (HD) Bilsteins work very well in street applications with a variety of both conventional springs and coil-over conversions. They are designed to deliver the best possible ride quality coupled with impressive street performance.

While they are non-adjustable, Bilstein's unique deflective-disc valve design instantaneously self-adjusts to changing road surfaces. Their performance does not degrade with age, usage, or heat, requiring no compensating manual adjustments as with other brands. Bilstein uses a patented mono-tube design that allows for a larger piston size than is possible with a twin-tube damper. The mono-tube design provides better heat dissipation to keep the damper's oil cooler, and decreases heat-induced damper fade. High-pressure nitrogen gas prevents oil foaming and fading. The unique inverted design of the Bilstein strut allows for very large strut shaft bushings, which are less prone to deflection. The inverted strut design also keeps the oil seal protected from the elements. Every Bilstein damper is tested on a shock dyno before leaving the factory to ensure quality.

I have QA1's all around including front coilovers. They ride pretty good and have helped alot with dialing in at the track. I have the fronts lower than I had before and they still ride better.

They are a bit costly though and the d-specs are a nice alternative.
