Fucking hell. I just found out that the house across the street is a migrant rental house. My Realtor just wants to appease me because he doesn't want anything to stop the deal from closing next week. I'm fucking pissed and dismayed. Probably not a lot I can do about it at this point but it still bothers me. The whole point of me moving was to get away from shitty renters and illegals but there's no escaping them.

Put a wall around the house property and you won't even know they are there.

Picked up a brand new front door today for $85 (primed white steel six panel with peep hole). Nothing fancy but better than the cracked and separating wooden front door on the house now. I also looked at some windows being sold by some guy on Craigslist but didn't commit, need to do some more comparison shopping first.

Still not happy about the neighbor situation. I'll see if I can get some sort of concession from the seller (since they explicitly advertised it as a nice neighborhood) but I'll most likely still go through with the purchase. Just one more bullshit thing to deal with.

Seeing as how I live alone and I'm out working most days, that could easily backfire. The neighbors across the street wouldn't have to exert much effort to determine when I was home or not.

They have no accountability, are transient in nature and impossible to track since they have no legal status here. So therefore they can basically do whatever the fuck they want as long as they don't get caught by somebody willing to personally hold them accountable. Therefore as long as one of them thinks he can steal my shit without getting caught then there's a good chance that my shit's getting stolen.

I just spoke with my Realtor and he's pulled out all the stops to convince me to close. He said we could just call my mortgage broker and have the mortgage get denied but then I would be out of the market for 2 months. And at this point I'd rather live in a motel room than stay here for two more months. Worst case scenario I end up selling it after a year but I should net a pretty decent profit at that point (assuming my labor is free). It will get me out of my current house and if the neighbor situation becomes an issue I'll deal with it at that point.
