The stock gear selector has nothing to prevent you from going from 1st to 3rd. That will ruin an autocross run right there.

I rest my hand on my shifter, im always knocking it into neutral. That is annoying.

Well the one thing on the rear suspension I haven't replaced yet is the UCA to Differential Bushing. And it's toast after almost 10 years of autocross and track days. I'm replacing it with a spherical Steeda unit. It'll add a bit of NVH, but it should be a permanent fix. I'm normally not a big fan of Steeda, but this was highly recommended by Revolution Automotive, who have used it on numerous things, from street builds to hardcore track and drift monsters.

I'm currently at Revolution Automotive near Baltimore having them replace it, because that's not a job I want to do myself. (They're having to use a damn air chisel just to get the old bushing out.) At least I get to watch a 700-hp S550 get dyno tuned while I'm here!

I replaced that bushing in the wife's '08 Shelby, it wasn't that bad at all.
    Don't have a chisel.
I used a hole saw to cut through that OEM rubber, then filed away the remnants.
Installed a new polyurethane bushing and love it.

It's having to remove the OE bushing's outer shell that can make the spherical replacement job such a miserable one.

I guess my bushing wasn't that far gone, because the tech hit it with an air chisel once and it came right out. (I actually paid less than the estimate since the bushing removal was so easy.)

Spherical replacement made a huge difference, though. And that butt wiggle that the S197 does over pavement swells and bumps is like almost gone.

I take back all the nice things I said about this back-alley abortion of a performance part.

What, exactly, is that busted-off handle supposed to do?

That's the "button" that lets it out of Park. Or, at least, it was.

    OEM shifter is back in.

Even BMR highly recommends the steeda UCA spherical differential bushing. I'm surprised yours has
    lasted 10 years.

hmmm . . . yeah, that could pose a problem.

Bet you're not the only person that's happened to, either.
