Vapour Trails
The Renaissance Man
I made about 30 passes this year and I still could not get good repeatable results doing burnouts. I didn't realize how bad they were until reviewing the video.
The tires were 275/40/17 ET streets (MTs).
I would put the car in 2nd, rev up with the tip of my right foot, with my heel on the brake, then drop the clutch.
The problem on the video seems to be I just sort of slide around in the waterbox and slowly roll out of it, at which point the tires start to hook hard and I let off (usually going sideways in the process). Hardly any smoke was created despite the wheels spinning.
I think the problem is either
a) too much water in the water box
b) in the wrong position in the water box
Basically I would just move forward until the track worker gave me a sign. Then I would proceed to perform the burnout. I'm wondering if I should just roll through the box to wet the tires then do the burnout at a dry spot?
