Ok still haven't fixed my problem, but its gotten worse and i need the followers either way. So if someone has the answer to this, that would be awesome. The car has started to backfire pretty bad after every shift so im sure something is about to go very wrong.

It's backfiring after every normal shift or every WOT shift ? Can you post a video of the noise ? I ask because I've followed this problem for a while and there are different kind of ticking noises. Mine has been ticking for like 20,000 miles and all my head stuff looks fine.

After every normal shift. The backfiring just recently started maybe 500 miles ago so im thinking POSSIBLY maybe thats connected to a bad plug or injector. I have never ever had that problem before.

As for the ticking, i can definitely hear the injectors, mine have always seemed to be pretty loud since i can remember, but it almost sounds like only 1 valve is ticking. Ill try to get a video today.

That doesn't seem too awful, mine has a literal, LOUD "TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK" that's intermittent and goes with engine RPM. So loud that if I'm next to a car/at an ATM/next to a highway barrier stopped or going <20 I can hear it.

I'll be sitting at an ATM and it'll be ticking away (very audibly) and I can tap the gas and most of the time it'll go away. Probably a stuck/clogged lifter and the little boost in oil PSI gets er going for a sec. It's probably going to eat one of my roller arms lol.

Yeah im not sure what BAD is haha. To me its obviously not right but whatever. As long as I can fix the backfire ill be happy. Ill bring the car over to have cams put in soon and see what they say.

Wound up being a bad plug. HAHA! Fuck'n eh! Changed all the plugs, ticking is completely gone, and the car is running great!

So does this seem to happen to all s197's, lightly modded, or heavily modded? Just picked up an '08, now has 38,000 miles and is completely stock (for now).

Don't see how a plug could be causing that noise, but whatever. I'd keep an ear out to see if it magically comes back. I've had instances where I thought my noise was gone but came back. That noise sounds exactly like mine.

I totally agree. I have no idea how the plug could have caused the sound issues but I knew that had to be part of the problem for the backfiring. But honestly, it sounds like a completely healthy engine again with your typical injector ticking. Super weird.
