Wow, that matte grey looks amazing. I dig it

I agree on the matte grey wrap. In the end, if I were you Cam, and I 100% didn't care about the value of the Shelby going down, I would just pay to get it painted a different color you'd be happy with. Cost of the wrap will be a lot also, and if you don't go with a crazy chameleon paint and stick with something nice and simple, it should be worth it. Last thing you want is to see overlaps, air pockets, and corners of the wrap lifting up and starting to peel. Cars look good from a distance, but once you get up close, it's hard to see a REALLY good wrap job.

I saw a saleen s197 in mystichrome somewhere, and it didn't resonate very well with the look of the car.

I think something along a more sinister line would be what the doctor ordered...

The Matte White Pearl Paint on the Z/28 looks great and if I was going to paint a car I would go with that color. But I guess with your GF having a White Mustang and then looking for the OW I can see how y'all having white cars would be kinda tedious for lack of a better term.

dont know why people hate the mystics so much. the 96 and 04 mystic cobras are some of my favorate late model colors. If you have the money to do it then do what you want. It is your car. I personally think it would look great. I actually thought about putting mystic racing stripes on mine later down the road when i am due for a paintjob.

I appreciate the opinions guys and I think you may have swayed me out of doing something this nuts... I guess what's left is for me to come up with a wrap for it.... matte pearl white or dark metallic grey.... and then if that goes to fruition I'll powdercoat my wheels another color.

DON'T YOU DARE TAKE MATTE PEARL WHITE!!! I was planning on doing my next car that color!!! In all seriousness, that is one of my top choices for wrapping my next car. That color, with some brushed aluminum, or black brushed aluminum trim pieces. Have you seen the gloss vinyl they have out? My buddy that wrapped my car has a sample book with a ton of new colors, some of them are absolutely amazing.

No one hates it, they are saying on the S197 platform it would not look right.

I agree 100%, it looked awesome on the SN95. However, It just doesn't look right, to me anyway, on the S197. I think it's due to the body being so fat, it just looks awkward as opposed to the SN95's slim body. Maybe the '10 to '12 could pull it off due to the slim body as compared to '05s and '13s, but definitely not a GT500.

I'll be so glad when this "wrap" fad is over. It's like putting yourself in a custom tailored suit and then going to Kmart to buy dress shoes to go with it.

What if you're only going to wear the dress shoes that one night? :(

I have to vote satin or matte, but...
Had a Dodge GLH painted satin black and had polished factory aluminum wheels. Loved that combo.

I am married. My wife votes gloss, and so she gets gloss. Keeps her happy, and off my ass for the cash going into it.

Says the guy with stick on brake caliper covers...
What's the problem with vinyl wrap? It's durable, protects the paint and looks amazing.

I would have never expected you to like that... lol

I agree, the Z/28 looks badass in that white. We wouldn't mind with two white cars.

It's to each his/her own. Mystic looks great IMO with low lighting.

BTW, there is a GT500 that has been painted Mystic before - Look on TrueForged Facebook.

Your NEXT car? WTF hahaha

I've seen some of the gloss ones... but would they require more tlc than matte finishes?

I've always LOVED bright atlantic blue

Looks good on the SN-95, not sure it would look good on a S197.

I'm with Greg on this one.

I've always thought vinyl wrapping is great... I've always thought about it but I'm VERY particular who touches my cars, and if I'm going to pay that premium it better look fucking fantastic.

I hate it. It belongs back in the 90's with the pink metallic and aqua colored cars, never to be resurrected.

Go for the wrap. That way when you tire of it (and I bet you will), you can change it or put it back to stock.

Because its fucking cheap looking and most applications I've seen look like ass. If your going to wrap something, wrap a present. If you can afford a 35K + car you can afford to put a kick ass beautiful paint job on it. There is a good reason you don't see classic hot rods wrapped up in this shit. I know, I know...someone will link a photo of a 69 Camaro wrapped any moment. JMO.
