I just bought a 2013 v6 that im told has a bad motor. When I got it the battery was completely dead. I put a new battery and it turned over but no start. It didn't even sound like it wanted to then it started clicking like a dead battery. That's when I noticed if I put my meter on continuity it beeps when I put the positive post to ground. I have disconnected the positive wires on the battery and figured out that the positive wire thats grounded goes the the fuse box in the engine bay. Even with all fuses out its still grounded. Im lost. Please help.

Update...I actually found the problem by accident. I THINK.. The previous owner had a sound system in the car. I removed it completely and I believe my short is gone. Now it just cranks and doesn't sound like it even wants to start. It actually sounds like it has no compression and throws 2 codes one is p0016 and the other is p0018. I'll get a compression tester and see if that helps. I did pull the crank sensor and looked for ohms and got none.

Start by putting it back together, set your meter to VDC take a reading across both battery terminals static, take note of the reading, then do the same while someone is attempting to start the car and note the reading.

This is where you start. if the readings are close to the same, there is a connection issue on the circuit.

If the voltage drops down 9-10VDC electrical for starting systems is fine and another issue persists.

To be clear, are u reading ohms..... between positive of battery...and chassis ????? And reading zero ohms ?
(You should only be reading zero ohms between negative of battery....and chassis).

It appears the positive cable from battery to fuse box is shorted to the chassis....before it even gets to the fuse box. Trace it's entire length.

Chances are its jumped the timing and done damage, any knocking noises while turning over? Do a compression test as that would be a quick way of determining that.
