Steeda Adjustable Upper Control Arm Install – Help

Have the hard part of the disassembly complete (under car (2), back seat and carrier bolts removed), but the stock mount and arm will not come out. I can see no other way of getting the required space to remove the stock mount and arm without lowering the gas tank.
Now for my question, on a 2008 GT what size Torque Bit is required to remove the gas tank straps, T-50 or T-55 or what?

yes to get the mount out you have to lower the gas tank. I bought the street version and didnt have to remove the mount. If you just loosen the mount from under the the rear seat and take out the two bolts underneath you can pivot the mount to remove the UCA. I think t50 but give me a min and I will go look, Yes it's a t50.

+1 put a jack under one side of the gas tank and completely remove the bolt holding the strap for the tank then loosen the other side a good bit after that lower the jack slowly until you get the tank low enough to pull the mount . Once you do that make sure you have the bolt under the rear seat removed and it should come right out with a little wiggling .

Thanks, TORX Plus 50IP it is. Ok, $26.50 later if I can find one, I think I will just see if I can get the nut and bolt out that holds the stock arm to the stock mount. Wish me luck!

You do not have to lower the tank if you leave the stock bracket in place. Getting the UCA out, putting in a steeda, and then torquing it to spec is a little tricky. Mostly you work from under the car; loosen the bolt under the rear seat enough but do not take it all the way out, as it will hold the bracket in place. you'll be able to move it it enough side-to-side underneath the get the long bolt out through the middle. but you'll need to remove the 2 bolts that mount the uca to the car or get them almost all the way out.

Or lower the tank and you have a lot more room.

you can change the UCA without lowering the tank but, as TexasBlownV6 said it will be alittle tricky to get it tightened properly with the limited space available. If i was to do it agian I would have bought the Steeda Adjustable Comp Upper Control Arm since it is best to take the mount out anyway.

We recommend taking the upper arm and mount out as an assembly. You can install the new arm into your existing upper mount or into an upgraded upper mount, then install the upper arm into the mount while its on the ground. torque the bolt down then install the mount and upper arm as an assembly. Then you just have to install the bolt in to rear end side of the arm.

tmcolegr, tried the Snap-on TORX Plus 50IP and it is too big to fit the gas tank strap bolts. Can anyone tell me if the strap bolts are a TORX Plus 45IP?

I used a standard T50

I used the t50ip on my 05, the standard t50 is loose and I wouldn't even consider using it. If you strip it out, that would be a nightmare to get out.

The T50 wasnt the best fit but I got them loose with slipping.
