Steering shaft problems

So I just put in a bmr k-member with the 1/2 lower motor mounts AND MAC long tubes and the steering rack (i think thats what its called) Is hitting up against the longtubes, it sounds pretty bad when I turn the wheel left or right, what do I need to do to fix it! Its driving me crazy!!!

If you can take a pic that would be helpful, as you steering rack should be nowhere near the exhaust at any point.

Sounds like the headers are hitting the steering shaft. One of them has to move.

Try shifting the motor towards the passenger side. If that doesn't work you may need to massage the offending header tube(s) a little.

Loosen the motor mounts and push the engine towards the passenger side. It should only need 1 or 2 mm to clear the steering shaft.

So just to clarify, I loosen the mounts on both sides? and is that the mounts on the k member or the mount the is bolted to the side of the motor?

loosen the 2 bolts that connect the motor mount to the motor and shift it over. your probably gonna have a hell of a time with the passenger side though the header is usually in the way of the bolt

no no no lol. loosen the two bolts that bolt the two motor mounts to the K member, then shift over. i had the same problem with my macs except i was hitting the pass. side.

I recently installed this same K-member. I did not tighten any of the K-member mounting bolts or engine mount to K-member bolts until the engine was properly centered in the chassis. Then tighten all the bolts. This procedure should provide you with the clearance you need.
