Strut install help?!

I am needing to replace the stock shocks and struts on my 2007 GT. I was given stock shocks and struts from a 2012 GT 5.0. My question is, will this be a straight forward install, do I need to put my stock springs on the new struts, will I have to get additional parts to retro fit them, or can it simply not be done?

You will want to remove the strut and spring as a complete unit, then disassemble with the proper spring compressor so you don't damage something or dismember yourself. The upper spring mounts are generally considered a one-use item so don't be surprised if they fall apart once you get them off. You may be able to reuse them or you can pick up some new ones, either stock mounts or the GT500 mounts as an upgrade.

Thanks for the help. Can I use the springs that are on the 2012 struts of will I need to switch those out as well?

I think the 2012 upper mounts are different, not sure if they will work on the 05-09.

I believe the '12 struts require the '12 mounts. I don't think you can use GT500 mounts or your existing ones on the '12 struts from a GT. If you were given an entire assembled front strut/spring/mount from a 2012, then just install the assembly.

Like stated above if he gave you the entire strut, spring and mounts already assembled they will just bolt right up. No need to disassemble them at all.

Awesome thanks guys I did receive the entire assembly. I will be doing the install on Sunday most likely. I will update on how it goes. Hopefully it will not change my ride height. My friend thinks it will make it look lifted.?.
